Signed to Mary J. Blige‘s label imprint, Matriarch Records, R&B singer Dave Young wants to be the male counterpart (of sorts) to his boss, while bringing real life issues into the heart of his music. Having just broken up with his woman, the West Coast resident is armed with a blunt in one hand and a drink in the other, hoping that Drinking Smoking will help clear his mind. Offering one of his deepest verses since Get Rich or Die Tryin’, 50 Cent (on a rare feature verse) joins Young to talk about the mother of his son. Drinking Smoking is ideal background music for anyone upset over lost love. If you choose to follow Dave Young’s method, however, always remember that moderation is the key.
youd think wit 50 cent on the song youd have a banger but nah nufn special, dave young is pretty good like 2 hear another song from him vocals are good, sumthing smooth 2 kick bak to..
I think 50 repped nice on here! The beat is really nice and smooth. I never heard of Dave Young before but he kinda reminds me of tyrese voice wise. Sounds really good though and I like the verses of the song itself. Nice lyrics...sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to get through da day...YA DIIIIG!!!
I cant wait to hear what the hatas say in this one. You cant hate, because this really is just too good. I hate 50 Cent, but this is hott. Dave Young is really impressin me on this track, and 50 delivers once again, no matter if you hate him or love him, its hott.
this is hot. I like the 'normally' sample, might get old quick but it works. and the chorus isnt too bad, its such a chill track! 50 delivered for once.
One of the best r'n'b tracks I've heard in a while...
and who produced it ? of course J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League !!!it's their year...
Who doesn't know, Dave Young is working for Mary J Blige...so why the chose 50 is pretty obvious ...
For a first real buzz track, Dave impresses. Not to mention; name the last artist who nabbed 50 Cent (regardless of how they landed their feature verses) for their debut offering? Mary will make sure DY stays true to R&B. Bright future.
I kinda wish this was a 50 Cent song feat. Dave Young. His verse started the song off well, and then Dave kinda bored me after that. The hook was nice, and 50 was tight, but this doesn't do much for me.
50 did his thing real nice verse...Dave Young has a nice voice kinda like Tyrese...weird that he got a 50 feature...I too wish it was a 50 song featuring Dave Young...and of course whats to be said about JUSTICE League...always top notch.
Song didnt impress me at all... this beat reminds me of something from Jay-Z.. im not Hatin as The Greatest would probably say to anyone who said this song was bad.. but it is in my opinion.. but Dave has to have a promised future to be comin out with 50 on his debut as Z said.
In the infamous words of donjonjon - Forgettable lol
50 Cent is worth his name...he doesn't help a song and only hurts it...hes dropped way off the map and needs to regroup..
as for the song its lacking something
J.U.S.T.I.C.E League really brought it on this, definitely. 50's verse was pretty sincere, the most real verse I've heard from him since that Ciara song he featured on. Dave Young is nothing special vocally, but he's not bad. This is a decent buzz track. He needs to holla at "The Dream" to write for him though, cuz his lyrics are pretty elementary as far as song writing goes.
50 hates too many people for me to respect his ass but this song is real chilled. Wish this song had another featured artist like T.I. I am a little bias; any song with drinking and smoking as the theme is good with me
50 IS CRAZEY ON THIS TRACK . DAVE YOUNG IS DOING HIS THING. TRACK IS HOT . KINDOVE BEATS I LIKE 50 TO BE ON . STRAIGHT HITTIN BEATS . HATEM OR LOVE EM 50 COMES WIT IT. KEEP HATEN ON THE KID . KEEP SAYING G-UNOT . ITS ALL GOOD GGGGGGGGG-UNIT
Man I been there before, I am really feelin this song but what would you expect comin from mary j, I kno not Garbage. Its real, and I'm not a 50 fan but he did that on here cuz he was true to his self and you can hear it. I give it 5
