DJ Booth Exclusive Freestyle

Entry #98 in our DJBooth.net Freestyle Series comes courtesy of Dave Barz, the Connecticut native who teamed up with reader favorite K. Sparks on such acclaimed cuts as Slum Dog Millions and Pressure. On his brand new, previously-unreleased Barz in the Booth freestyle, the Double Up rapper flows over a J. Dilla-produced instrumental originally featured on Raekwon‘s House of Flying Daggers. Dave Barz is currently preparing for the December/January release of Port Authority, an LP produced entirely by labelmate Kurser, as well as the Q1, 2010 release of an album entitled King David. In addition, Barz is set to team up with longtime collaborator Rapz for a duo project called Bad Habits. Fans should keep it locked to the Booth throughout the winter for leaks from all three projects!

Readers can download a copy of the newly-released In the Booth (Volume 2), featuring freestyles 31 through 60, here! In the Booth (Volume 1), featuring freestyles 1 through 30, can be downloaded here.

It's kinda hard to spit a freestyle over a Dilla beat that Raekwon originally tackled and not come up short. But, Barz MURDERS this free. Let me repeat: MURDERS this record. Oh, and he's white - so BLOAW!

PS. Anyone who name drops Scottie Pippen gets an extra star.

WHOA! This is definately one of my favorite Booth Exclusive Freestyles. I did not know Dave Barz was white until quite recently... crazy! He sounds like an African American rrapper from NYC. He's from Connecticut. Anybody who kills such a dope beat after a dope group already laced it deserves some serious recognition. I like a lot of his work with the homie Sparks as well. Dude is nice.

I agree with D Mac. Any J Dilla track plus having been recorded on by heavy weights you have to come on your A Game. Barz did a exceptional job here and I'm really looking forward to the Kurser project.
