I know a rap blogger’s never supposed to reveal his age, but I was born in 1982, which means I’ve seen Back to the Future approximately 400 times, and Danny!’s new release Keep Your Head to the Sky really brings back some memories of the ‘90s. That’s due in no small part to the headliner’s work behind the boards as well as he pieces together a high energy, percussively driven joint that I just now would have killed the dance floor at my middle school dances. On the mix the South Carolina emcee offers up a wholeheartedly uplifting message, exhorting all those feeling drowned in doubt to lift themselves up: “It’s obvious to everyone she’s living a lie / but she don’t possess the confidence to give it a try.” Throw in some powerfully soulful vocals from Collette and you’ve got exactly the kind of positive jam we could all use on a Monday. For more from the punctuation enhanced Danny! be sure to keep an eye out for his Payback album, coming this week. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got to go pump up my Reeboks.

Nathan is spot on in his assessment above. This definitely has a throwback vibe. Very feel good in nature. If I made music like this I also would throw an "!" into my name.

Already decided on a 4 star within the first 10 seconds of the track, and will happily admit that. Z and Nate point it out, the throwback feel keeps it smooth especially with that hook. Danny! went out of the box on this one, and people will remember the name because of it! (pun intended on the !)

I don't really like Danny's flow or the production on the beat. It's just missing the mark for me. I don't like the feel or the delivery. Chorus was OK...
