Daniel Merriweather - Change ft. Wale
Artist: Daniel Merriweather
Featuring: Wale
Producer: Mark Ronson
Album: Love and War
Label: J Records/Allido
Remember Mark Ronson, the British singer/songwriter/producer who helped craft Amy Winehouse‘s vintage sound on Back in Black? Though Winehouse may not be up to recording another album anytime soon, Ronson’s still as busy as ever, and now he’s brought his behind-the-board talent to bear on another promising artist’s sophomore LP. On the new single off his forthcoming Love and War, Australian soul singer (and Booth newcomer) Daniel Merriweather addresses our need to come together and create Change as Ronson serves up a pensive yet upbeat accompaniment. Washington D.C. emcee and Booth favorite Wale also steps into the spotlight for a few lyrical interludes, adding some hip-hop flavor to the cut’s undeniable retro appeal. The UK press is already touting the R&B up-and-comer as an artist to watch in ‘09—does he have what it takes to catch on stateside? If you think so, be sure to pick up a copy of his second album, set to drop this July via J Records/Allido.

Wow, I was surprised by this. I really enjoyed it. It is an R&B/Pop song, but I thought it was catchy and the lyrics were also good. Daniel Merriweather has a great voice and sounded very good on here. I also loved the rap blend with Wale's verse.

I love this song its been on my ipod for a while its definitely dope. The production has a nice old school vibe and the instruments playing in the background is just straight up smooth. Wale brings solid rhymes and adds another dimension to the song. The hook is pretty hot too..this song has it all. So hot!!

Not sure if I'm feelin Merriweather yet but Ronson straight murdered the production. He kept it real soulful and smooth while still making you wanna stomp your feet. Wale did his thing too.

When this record first appeared on our radar (which was late December), I was told Daniel's push in the US was still in motion. Allow me to officially introduce him now to our Booth audience. Mega-talented, great team around him, and an exciting artist to watch out for.

I could listen to the production alone, that's not fair... the breakdown for the rap part is great!
I can see Daniel is talented, but his voice gotta sound better to match such great background music. |

Just put this one on the ipod yesterday. Really feeling the production and DM can sing. Kind of an old school feel to it, but fresh at the same time.

Big shout out to Wale but I'm not feeling Daniel so much. He gets a lot of attention for some reason so maybe this was just a bad day in the studio?

Being from the UK, i was delighted to hear this. Wale was better but i'm still impressed. He's been on better songs though (talking about Daniel). Good!

This is a nice song and the purpose of it is great. The beat sounds like something Mos def would rap on thats what reeled me in. His vovals are nice to and Wale did his thing. J RECORDS is jamie foxx's label right? IF so he knows how to bring talent.

I'm wit GStan10... this track surprised me. The production is very nice and Daniel's soulful voice works well over it. Wale steps in to create a little bit of contrast and the whole track works well wit that old school soul feel.

It's a good song but not my type, so I can't rate in a proper way. What I'd like to say is that his voice is cool and I like more the verses than the hook

Was expecting little, but this guy is a great singer. At first I sensed a lil gnarls barkley sound but nope, very unique. Extremely suprised I liked Wale on this. Banger.

I can't disagree with what the people say. This is a sick song. The hook is clean and the flow is crystal clear.
