A dope Booth debut is like a successful first date: after the initial rush wears off, you’re straight to obsessing over when you’ll get to see/hear that special individual/artist again. If you’re one of the many readers who fell head-over-heels for Dangerflow when they dropped off The Crown back in October 2011, don’t fret—you didn’t have spinach in your teeth, and you didn’t talk about yourself too much. Though it’s been a minute, newly-leaked album cut I’m Late finds the Miami live-band crew back at our figurative doorstep in their Sunday best, holding a bouquet of fresh flowers. Miami Beat Wave team up with the crew’s instrumental contingent behind the boards, layering keyboard blurts and radiant brass over a fast-paced rhythm section as emcee Angel Ocean and singer Eric “E” Stinnett charge forth to make their rendezvous with destiny. This single is everything I've come to expect both from Dangerflow and the entire S. Florida region, who has that bright, funky, fun sound embedded in their musical veins.

This perplexes me. There are certain points throughout the song that I can definitely vibe to, and others where I just .. can't. It might take a couple of listens for me to be sure, but for now I'll stamp 3 stars.

I like the cuts on here, but I don't like the beat much. Vocals by Dangerflow is good, but I need a different type of track to see where they really stand.

I like the chorus, but I'm not digging the rest. I feel like it was very jumbled and all over the place. Also, I was a little disappointed in the vocals. I know they have strong vocals usually, but I feel like this track didn't really highlight them.

'The Crown' - Instant classic, still play it all the time.
'I'm Late' - Not as good but this track is a grower, funky as beat. Loving the mix up of genres. |
