Thanks to Memorial Day weekend, a good number of our readers are most likely starting to pack for a much deserved mini-vacation. If you are still in search of a relaxing destination, however, I would urge you to avoid New Rich City. According to Da Youngfellaz, the experience would certainly be no picnic. On their latest song release, the New York duo, accompanied by guest Sal Capone, take listeners on a tour of their hood with a street-oriented style that is highlighted by a similarly tenacious, grimy flows and street-appropriate lyrics. Hammering home the gritty vibe is a smash mouth production from frequent collaborator Grand Staff, who laces a guitar riff with some haunting choir vocals that are an interesting juxtaposition to the trio’s brash approach. New Rich City is the latest entry in the twosome’s #MusicMondays series, which serves as an appetizer to Da Youngfellaz’ forthcoming June album release, Sophisticated Arrogance.
