D. Julien - Prove Them Wrong
Producer: Buzz
Album: Untitled Project
Label: Unsigned
Remember all that “hip-hop is dead” talk a couple years ago? It was stupid then, and it’s even dumber now that a new generation of emcees are beginning to emerge from hip-hop’s underground. Brooklyn up-and-comer D. Julien, whom we last heard spitting a sick DJBooth freestyle, is part of that new bright young new school, but just in case there are still some out there that don’t think Julien’s in the game to win, his new track should Prove Them Wrong. Produced by fellow newcomer Buzz, Prove Them Wrong rides along on a soulful, heavily ‘70s influenced beat, which Julien uses to destroy any haters in his path: “Now you don’t, gotta believe it but these fake parapelegics hatin, you lyin talking bout you ain’t feelin my recent statements.” The track is part of a currently untitled, unscheduled project that will undoubtedly materialize into a dope new project from Julien. In the meantime, keep it locked to our pages for all the latest from hip-hop’s future.

Very refreshing. D has been our radar for quite awhile, but welcome aboard Buzz. This production work is standout (to me). Keep it coming, fellas.

The 70's influence very poignant here and its a great first entry into his untitled project. the beat takes me back to watching the "Rocky" movies, i think its the horn loops. This song just hits really hard (no pun intended) most. def. in rotation

Lotta underground rappers are going with these more jazzy productions lately. D.Julien was solid. I'll rotate it.

To quote the immortal Jay Bilas, this kid had tremendous upside. He's not there yet, but if he keeps going in this direction, come the end of 2010 we could easily be talking about Julien as one of the best and brightest young artists in the game - especially like the way he switches up the cadence of his flow on this one.

Time and time again D.Julien has been delivering quality music. Solid beat by Buzz as well, packing tight bassline with a lilting horn loop that fades in and out. Rotation fa sho!
