The 107th entry in our DJBooth.net Freestyle Series comes courtesy of D. Julien, the Brooklyn native who earned reader acclaim for Live, Love, Learn single Absolute Perfection, featured back in July. On his brand new, previously unreleased Never Change freestyle, the currently unsigned emcee flows over a Kanye West-produced beat originally featured on Jay-Z‘s track of the same name. D. Julien is currently preparing to premiere the official video for his first Booth feature, Treat Me Different.
Readers can download a copy of the newly-released In the Booth (Volume 2), featuring freestyles 31 through 60, here! In the Booth (Volume 1), featuring freestyles 1 through 30, can be downloaded here.

I love how artists are bringing back the old school favorites for their freestyle series features. Not that I don't love instrumentals from today, but Jay's "Never Change" was a Blueprint standout. Expectations were high here, but D. did the beat justice!

It takes a brave man to go over a Hova classic and D. Julien delivers. His pacing on this is perfect, nails it, and i like the wordplay. This next "In the Booth" is gonna be pistachios.

The beat was always a favorite and D. Julien really goes Hard on here. And since he has the same last name as me, I am gonna give him an extra star! For real, this was a good listen! D is nice.

Nice - real nice
I like the relaxed, chilled groove and D's flow is so easy. I'm gonna hang with this one for. |

It was a really gutsy move using one of hov's classic instrumentals here, but it most def. paid off. Everything here matches his flow and vocals, and the best part here is the lyrical content.

"said I woke up i the mornin ate my breakfast sipped some OJ, thinkin bout this session like i had to rip some old jay" - that did it for me right there, i can relate to that one. He had a lot more quotes too but that stuck out. 3.759

Never Change was one of my favorite joints from Jay. I like how D. Julien put his own spin on it, being true to himself as an artist, and managing to make the song his own...Dope
