All right, it’s time for a little trivia. What do you get when you combine three of the most respected rappers in the game? If D-Block isn’t one of the first names to pop into your head, you’re probably not worthy to call yourself a hip-hop fan. The on-again, off-again three-piece formerly known as The L.O.X. has come together to release their first album in eight years. It’s Like That, one of its recently leaked tracks, finds Sheek Louch, Jadakiss, and Styles P all in top-notch form. They mostly stick to the familiar topics of crime and real talk, while Pete Rock contributes an eerily tranquil beat that borrows the iconic bass line from Bob James’s Nautilus. The album is expected to drop on Koch Records this November.
Hah, call me ignorant but I've never heard of D-Block. I had to read the summary to see who's in it. Over all I'm not feelin this song. I'm getting depressed off this beat. Good lyrics tho
haha yea bout time we heard some more from D-block. Everyone loves em here in Yonkers, at least they should. I wasnt feeling this song too much but im exited as hell for the album.
I hav never been a big fan of D Block, I dont know why...This song sounds like a really early version, with the vocals up way too loud. Either that or straight for a mixtape. The production is classic D Block, so that's cool. Jada's pretty nice here, but the rest of em aren't really grabbin my attention. In rotation, but I want better.
After all these years, DBLOCK is still the hardest out! They go so hard that they don't ever do that well in the charts. It doesn't matter to me...Go check out that Styles P mixtape Phantom Ghost Menace! It is the hottest thing out right now besides that Public Domain 3! Anyway, this track is nice right here, but go check out that mixtape and you will find much more hotter tracks than this. I'm not really feeling the throwback updated beat here, but its good to hear Jada rockin with everyone again. It can go into rotation!
Damn this joint is hard for the streets...but thats just the way D-Block does...Sheeks comes in hard starting off nicely, STyles and Jada always on top of their game...The production is nice only thing i'm not really feeing is the hook...Look for that new JaDA album droppin soon
My inside source (...cough...Styles P) tells me that the trio still have MANY records done that they're holding onto for another album, which will most likely be placed on a major label release in the next year or so. The three of them killed the lyrics, but that's to be expected. What up Pete Rock? What do you all know about Pete Rock!?!?!
The way he says "it's like that yo" isn't new...it's similar to that said in the Mariah's song! Anyway I'm not enthusiastic about this song...not bad but I wouldn't throw it in rotation! The production is good, though
Pete Rock eh! D-Block have that style and lyricism that you can't deny. "1 puff and a bottle of Hova"....lol. Hahahaha! Of course, it's not that commercial fluff, and babies of the hip hop listening pasttime will definitely not feel this because y'all are ignorant. Ignorant doesn't mean stupid. It just means lack of knowledge. I'm just stating you have a lack of knowledge of who D-Block is or their influence on the current artists/music from newer cats who you currently believe are the greatest and better than these guys. I won't hate. But I do disagree with Charlie's statement "What do you get when you combine three of the most respected rappers in the game? If D-Block isn’t one of the first names to pop into your head, you’re probably not worthy to call yourself a hip-hop fan". I wouldn't think of them off top, because I don't feel they are THE BEST as far as choosing THE BEST is concerned. But this is a hard record for the streets and the hip hop heads. Plus, PETE ROCK. What do we know about Pete Rock DJ Z? Well, let me put it in the terms of someone who knows nothing about historic hip hop and would describe it like this...Pete Rock is the original Kanye West. He in Kanye West before there was a Kanye West (production wise). There we go. That should help the rest of y'all out. This goes in rotation.
