D-Block - Get That Paper ft. Si
Artist: D-Block
Producer: Crada
Album: No Security (D-Block Compilation Album)
Label: D-Block Records
When Jadakiss stepped into the Booth for a recent interview, he made an announcement that fans had been waiting for ever since the 2000 release of We Are the Streets: D-Block‘s long-anticipated third studio album is coming very soon—this summer, in fact. This brand new buzz single off the forthcoming LP
D-Block compilation album, No Security, finds the trio doing whatever it takes to Get That Paper, but don’t let the title fool you; though the primary focus is the quest for success (and cash), the tone is a little more down-to-earth than you’d expect. Styles P is mostly concerned with flaunting his mansion and aqua-blue drop-top, but Sheek Louch‘s vivid opening verse and Jada’s introspective contribution on the back end add up to a balanced whole. Si adds a dash of soul on the hook, and beatsmith Crada mixes things up with a surprisingly subdued, reflective instrumental. Though their yet-untitled album, dropping this summer via Interscope, will be the threesome’s first LP as D-Block, Get That Paper makes it crystal clear that that Jada, Louch, and Styles are still “Living (and rhyming) Off Experience.”

For a 'buzz' single this is terrific. Lets give some due credit to Crada's excellent production work here. Not what you'd expect from these fellas, but they worked with it real nicely.
Shouts to the homie, Kitsune. |

Great production on here. It is a good chill song. The hook is pretty good and I'm gonna have to agree with "XxXxDaTruthXxXx" that this sounds like "Finer Things". Everyone on this track was solid.

I'm wit Z again, great for a "buzz" single. I like the production and the smooth hook. As always, the verses from all three of these greats were very solid. All three have great rap vocals/flows, and together it just adds to the appeal. Nice work, cant wait to hear the album.

Nice bass line. Alil dated, but that never bothers me. This sounds like something from the Belly days. Which were good years. I can see myself riding to this. Good track

I always said these guys are more talented individuals than G-Unit. If they concentrate on makin enjoyable music like this, they'll see success match their talent. Solid overall, props for the vocals!

fredrico, these guys are not more talented then g-unit, hate to break it to you... styles p is pretty much an equal match to lloyd banks, believe it or not.. 50 and jada about the same, cuz jada just flows nice, he never comes with punches so you cants say he is more lyricaly talented then 50 cuz 50 flows and rarely brings punchlines, pretty much equal to jada...sheek and yayo self explanitory lol.. but d-block never puts out enjoyable music, never.... on the other hand the unit puts out stuff we can enjoy 5 years after its been out, not dblock.. the have had no success in this rap game, except developing a name and getting people to d*** ride them.. they lost their most talented member j-hood... theyre going nowhere hate to say it
this track is enjoyable , sheek brought more then expected from me, styles and jada didnt dissapoint my expectations, i think j-hood wuda killd this, but hey stuff happens |

Regradless of who's better than whom, what you can't deny is that this is a solid track. Production is nice, although as BDF44 said, bassline is dated. But no one did remotely bad on this track. Banger.

THIS IS F*CKIN CRACK!!! The beat is crazy and all members of DBLOCK hold it down HARD! This is a good representation of true NY RAP right here! Can't wait for them all to come back! Stylz P is the best in their crew but Sheek and Jada kill it too. EASILY A BANGER!

@P-Smooth: uhmm.. one could argue with your comparisons, but it's quite accurate except I think Sheek's Silverback Gorilla is better than anything Yayo could do. XD
But as far as enjoyable music go, I said it myself, D-Block doesn't focus on makin catchy records but that doesn't make them less talented in any way cuz the reason why G-Unit does is strictly due to production. And I was talkin about talent as in own merit. I aint sayn G-Unit doesnt have any (I still listen to "Wanna Get to Know You"), I just think D-Block is even better and deserved same success. |

Production is very relaxing. Like the chorus. Don't like how the rappers sound over the beat, but like what they spit. Solid song, nothing special tho.

Ill get drawn into the G-Unit Vs D-Block debate. The way I see it:
Jadakiss = 50 Cent Styles P = Lloyd Banks Sheek Louch > Tony Yayo Jadakiss & 50 Cent are equal, though they are 2 completely different rappers. 50 is more about the big punch line, while Jada is more about the flow & the overall meaning of his lyrics. Styles P & Lloyd Banks are probably the best overall rappers in both groups, though they both seem to rap about the same things over & over again (Styles P is about smoking weed, while Banks is about his money). Sheek Louch being compared to Tony Yayo is a-bit of a insult to be honest. Louch would have to be considered one of the most underrated MC's around & is definitely overshadowed by Styles & Jada. Tony Yayo has improved since I first heard him, though he isnt on the same level as Louch currently. |
