Cymarshall Law - One Million Miles Away

If I can find one or two tracks that I really personally enjoy each week, I consider it a win for team me. Thanks to Cymarshall Law, I can chalk up a W for the first week in February. The highly talented Freestyle Series alum is breaking new ground yet again with One Million Miles Away, and while his lyrical content is always revered by listeners - “My heart is the fire from which the soul came/ I got burned when I tried controlling the flame” - it’s his work over producer J. Ralph‘s boardwork that caught my attention with this one. Listeners have undoubtedly heard Ralph through many of his talented scores via major commercials, most notably through Volkswagen and Nike advertisements, and here the beat has a distinctly cinematic feel. All in all, it’s Cy’s ability to recognize the potential for a great song in any type of media that makes this truly stand out (and for that, I tip my hat). If you liked traveling far, far away with Law on this one, be sure to keep an ear to the ground for more of Cy’s work here at DJBooth.

I am a sucker for a well mixed/mastered joint (something that is sadly going by the wayside these days) and "One Million Miles Away" is super duper crispy. Plus, Cy is an emcee I am always eager to support.

I love it. This is creative as it can get. I love the Oprah hook. Hot as hell this is what we need, someone willing to step outside the box, and knock it out-the-park. MARK THAT A PLAYER......

Loved (!) how the beat slowly came in. While that production is simply well mastered and brilliant, it's Cy's flow and attack over the track that's the real highlight. The hook could have been a lot better, which will hold me to a 3. But damn, heavy flow and wordplay.

Cymarshall's never been afraid to be himself, and "himself" sounds pretty damn dope. There's a real mood created here, which I dig, and enough lyricism to warrant a few repeats. Much respect to Law.

Yes, this is the track i have been waiting for from Cy, I really liked some of his early stuff but wasn't a huge fan of the Creators Kid EP. But, this is so originally and creatively dope that I gotta hop on this, really wanted this track to solidify Cy in my mind.

He's like a Kweli/Common hybrid, which I'm sure people have compared him to.
The song is a bit all over the place. Decent but nothing mind blowing. |

extremely well put together song, Cys voice goes great with the song and he has a sick flow. beat is awesome, chorus goes good with the track but not really my favourite... so it got a 4 for the chorus, but i loved the ending and everything else enough to give it a five
