The 172nd entry in our DJBooth.net Freestyle Series comes courtesy of CyHi Da Prynce, the ATL native who recently earned reader approval for street single Sidewayz. On his brand new, exclusive What’s My Name? freestyle, the Konvict/Def Jam rapper flows over original boardwork by heavyweight producer Statik Selektah. Prynce is currently preparing to drop Prynce of Spades: Prynceables, the first in a series of five mixtapes to be released over the course of summer 2010. Prynceables will be followed by Prynce of Hearts, Prynce of Clubs, Prynce of Diamonds and Prynce of Spades.

Readers can download a copy of In the Booth (Volume 4), featuring exclusive freestyles 91 through 120, here! Volumes one, two and three are available for download here, here and here. Watch for Volume 5 to hit our front page in late May.

For months (and months) I tried to get CyHi to knock out a freestyle for our Series. Now that it is finally here I am thrilled to offer it up to our readers and hope they can appreciate the talents of this up-n-comer.

Big Kudos also goes to Statik Selektah, whose original production provides the backdrop to Cy's rhymes. This beat was hand-selected from a submission pile of roughly 70 beats.

Enjoy...

Very smooth track and his flow goes nicely over it. Great freestyle.

It don't get any DOPER than this. Dude has punchlines for days, and you already know Selektah is a BEAST on the boards. My favorite up-and-coming artist outside of Gary, Indiana.

Crazy combination between ChHi and Statik, definitely two worlds coming together to dope effect.

I can't front. This is the track that's going to make me take CyHi very, very seriously. I had no idea the man's goal was to be the "down south Talib Kweli", and while he's got a ways to go before we can apply that title, man's got skills on the mic. I'll def be looking out for him.

Off top I'm feeling this cat. Never heard of him either. I wish this sample was a little longer.

Production isn't extraordinary, but it does compliment CyHi's relaxed and smooth flow. For a freestyle this was nice. Not too many complaints other than the duration of the track, so... in rotation this goes.

I first heard CyHi on a track with YelaWolf, and thought his skills were on point. This track is pretty solid too. Static Selektah also does a great job on the beat.

I didn't get the Kanye line. Kinda random. Otherwise his flow is nice.

It’s good and it’s lyrically much stronger than his last feature. I think I might end up liking this entry a lot more than I expected.
