Curtis Young - Area ft. Rick Ross & Luke
Artist: Curtis Young
Featuring: Rick Ross
Producer: St. Nick
Album: Check the Bloodline
Label: So Hood Entertainment
The West Coast has a long history in hip-hop, but only one name is synonymous with that sticky-icky Cali goodness: Andre Young. Better known to the world as Dr. Dre, his musical legacy is unparalleled; almost everything that he has touched – aside from the Aftermath compilation album – has achieved platinum certification or higher. His eldest son, Curtis Young, is looking to follow suit. This newly-released cut finds Curtis hanging with Rick Ross and Luke, as they count out all the girlies in their Area. Known for his work behind the boards as the Hood Surgeon, Young established his own independent label, So Hood Records, to showcase his talents. Aiming for a club banger with his first single, Young reached out to producer St. Nick, whose blend of Florida and Cali swag proves plenty of mettle for both artists. Check The Bloodline is aiming for a 2009 release.

It is incredible that Curtis has waited so long to really attempt to fully capitalize off of his father's success. Considering his skills behind the board, and the legacy of musical talent in his bloodline (see album title), I think listeners might be disappointed here.
Overall, an enjoyable listen. Nothing groundbreaking. |

I didn't know Dre had a son named Curtis. Imagine that! lol I wonder how the kid is behind the boards. Does he have a ear like his pops? R.I.P. again to his brother who passed a few months ago. This is cool right here. I think Ross brought this to another level. I'd play this.

Thats the first thing that came to my mind also BDF, i wonder what this kid is like behind the keys and boards...He's got a big name to live up to...ST.NIck did a fantastic job on production and Curtis stands out on this...i like his voice, flow and he can spit, rick ross did his thing too i'm just getting real sick of his talk about connects, pushing that white, and how his "ese's shoot"...Id love to hear Luda in place of Ross... hot track though...another 4 stars
ps...djbooth is on a roll today with the hot ish!! |

I've been bangin' to this so f---ing hard the past 2 days, what's with the rest of you? Production is OFF THE CHAIN, the beat, the hook, absolutely everything. Everything flows pefectly it seems -- including The Boss. Totally love it. I don't have a clue as to when the last time I rated a song a 5. I do have something to mention, but I'll post in in another comment.

This track is on this one group's MySpace -- The Majors. The title is also "Area", and everything is the same except for Young's and Ross's verses on this one. Just thought I'd throw it out there. But it still won't stop me from banging to this.
