If you enter a club or party anywhere in the world, chances are good that the Cupid Shuffle will be played at some point. While the song and its accompanying dance were a resounding success, the same can’t be said for Cupid‘s debut, Time for a Change (partly due to the fact that it was released during the infamous Kanye vs. 50 album sales battle). Now that he’s been freed from his contracts at Asylum and Atlantic, the Lafayette, Louisiana native hopes to continue doing what he does best at his new independent home, T.O.C. Muzik. The apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree on the new, dance-floor ready record, The Love Slide. Once again produced by Mr. Phat and complete with an instructional video (available at his Myspace page), expect The Love Slide to add another hit to Cupid’s musical résumé. The only question is: will he need to update his cover sheet in ’09?

I've given up on Cupid, he needs to get the memo that Cupid Shuffle was like 'Crank That' in the sense that it was a one in a thousand hit and the same style cannot be duplicated. He's tried with a handful of songs since, but none have really caught on. This is in the same category, I think he's got a good voice and is capable of making club hits without having a dance to them. Yikes.

cb126405 i hear you man, the happy dance was suppose be bigger than cupid shuffle, if it wasnt for this website i would never know what it is, this song is going out there tho it could be a nice song but the dance steps really arent necessary, cupid shuffle will never get old but cupid looks to be getting there...shame

WOW this is bad....he has a nice voice and all but the way he choses to use it- doesn't work- ya know what I mean?? I didn't even like the Cupid Shuffle of whatever it was- that was really annoying. Why does he try to put a dance twist thing in all of them- I don't like it. I give up on him too (for now). This isn't garbage though.

Cupid get ya money man. I'm not gonna hate. This is actually better than any other joint he has done. However it would have been nice to hear someone put some love lyrics to this track. The beat sounds like some 1995 Miami summer joint. Something played at the Freaknic or something. I'm not a fan of his voice here, but the beat is cool.

Okay I Use To Live In Lafayette. Actually I Live In The Broussard District With Cupid. I Use To See Him All The Time. I Have Met Him Before And He Performed At My School. He Is Probably One Of The Nicest People I Have Met. He Actually Takes The Time to Meet His Fans. But Cupid Come On Please Don't Ba A Soulja Boy Make Something Different Expand Your Music Making Voice. The Voice Is Killer the Beats That Flow With His Voice Are All Around You. Just Get Off The Dance Song Stuff. If Your Song Is Good People Will Dance To It No Matter What.

dude sounds like some re-invented and up-dated terrence trent d'arby on this piece..the beat has been recycled so much,it just doesn't have that "whoa!" affect to it anymore..or is that effect?..damn trees yo!!

In my opinion this track is intense and soulful but it's not my cup of tea. His voice is good, he can sing. I don't like the overlap of voices, they result kinda out of tune

LOL @ MH. Is that really the first black Powerranger? It sure looks like him. All joking aside. You gotta feel what this music is made for to really appreciate it. Line dance after line dance after a while does get wack. But if you have a real good one, chicks (and some dudes) and especially the oldheads love to cut a rug to ish like this.
The cupid shuffle is my joint. And its not the song necessarily that does it for me, its just the reaction it gets when its played. You'll have a group of some of hypest peeple on the dance floor shuffling to this joint. Now this is more on the R.Kelly step in the name of love vibe. I can't officially say I like this cut until I know the dance that goes with it and how fun it is to do. But its always cool (for ya'll dancers out there) to have a group of people with a smooth joint to STEP to. I think this might be alright. It's not something to bump in your ride or chill w/ your boo. This is strictly for the dancers. |

Holy rusted metal batman it is the first black power ranger, lol hey Zack. Ok the song is ok, but his voice is amazing. This dude needs to pull from this dance song stuff, I'ma run it in the club see how it works, doubt it will go far. Dude sign on with some of the other labels or do like weezy and get on everyone else's stuff.
