CunninLynguists - Stars Shine Brightest (In the Darkest of Night)
Artist: CunninLynguists
Producer: Kno
Album: Oneirology
Label: RBC Records/Bad Taste Records
Derived from the Greek oneiros, the title of the CunninLynguists’ forthcoming full-length translates into English as “the study of dreams.” Which, along with being an excuse to shamelessly show off my word-knowledge, ties in perfectly with the Kentucky natives’ latest single – a joint that addresses the topic of dreams (as in ambitions), in a fittingly dream-like (as in trippy) fashion. Stars Shine Brightest (In the Darkest of Night) finds Kno handling production duties, blending electric guitar licks and atmospheric synths into an ideal soundtrack for exploration of both inner and outer-space. The rapper-producer and his crewmates, Deacon the Villain and Natti, come with lyrical meditations to match the beat’s out-of-this-world vibe, expressing their positive life philosophy by way of celestial imagery: “No astronomer has seen your incredible gleam, and you don’t need a telescope to detect dreams.” Apologies in advance for the terrible pun, but is this joint as stellar as its title suggests? If you’re digging it, more awaits on the ‘Lynguists Oneirology LP, scheduled to hit stores March 22.

Still traveling, still busy...
I always manage to mess up when pronouncing their name, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying their music time after time. Kno smashes the prod. |

There's not a single thing I would change about this song. Production is crazyyyy. I wanna hear more. Especially "Beautiful Girl" influenced tracks.

i knew right when the beat started and judging on the past record that this was gonna be a sick song. after listening to the whole thing though i realized i underestimated the track. it was even better then i thought.. the lyrics and flows were amazing, perfect, amazing song.

The production sound like something out of an 80's movie. The hook and the beat did it for me, wasnt really feeling the verses, infact i got distracted whenever they started rapping. Four stars for the production and hook.

Is there anyone (even the artists themselves) that can give me the pronounciation on the group name?
Anyway, this song has that super mellow, laid back, chilled out, feel good, classy vibe to it. Absolutely incredible song. |
