Over the years, San Francisco’s Bay Area has birthed groundbreaking talent like E-40 and Too $hort. Here and now, however, a new generation of musicians are breaking away from the ‘hyphy’ sound that made the area famous, and among these are the funk and soul-infused Crown City Rockers. A welcome change for hip-hop heads bored with the same old (fill in the blank), CCR provides innovative raps with a uniquely fresh sound.  On their new single, Restless, emcee Raashan Ahmad bumps this concept up a notch with blazing, brassy trumpets and a steady drum rhythm behind him.  This self-produced single should hit the airwaves soon and give Crown City Rockers a break into the big-time. Their as-yet-untitled album is scheduled for release in the second quarter of 2009.

Booth-heads, I propose a toast! To us sensible reviewers; leading by example, we have helped WOW:) evolve from a brash young commenter into a wise, experienced reviewer (which her upcoming comment will show when she makes it)! Salute! (watches members clang glasses, then makes toast)

OK, now to the song: I'm a sucker for old-school laid back beats and motivated verses, so each one with that sound I automatically rate a 5.

Wow...i really didn't like this track at all. The rapping/flow was so forgettable and the beat was so annoying. ( I always use the word annoying and that's getting annoying but it fits all these type of beats well- well, not all of them. (I can't really juudge like that because who knows, i could enjoy a beat like this and i have to be fair.)) Anyway, this is garbage to me. Done.

It's about time my favorite band gets their shine on DJBooth! I'm so excited for their forthcoming album, every time they drop something new it always feels like a huge breathe of fresh air.

I'm feeling Headnodic's remixed version of "Restless" a little more than the original. The revamped keyboard melody and high-pitched vocal sample additions take the track to an ecstatic glowing and wholesome level.

I hope people realize that the Bay Area has so much more to offer to hip-hop than simply hyphy music.

I really like when the drum set go off and you focus on the soft percussion... and then it comes back again! It makes me appreciate the song twice more! The smooth winds in the background are also captivating. But the raping/flow didn’t deliver as many feelings, despite the lyrics… a bit monotonous!
