Ever since Jay-Z and T.I.‘s co-single, Swagga Like Us (also featuring Kanye & Weezy), first hit our DJBooth, the song has practically become A Milli 2.0, with the volume of artists freestyling over it reaching excess. Long Beach resident Crooked I adopts a similar theme on Swagga Like Crook, but instead of using Yeezy‘s original instrumental, the long time slept-on rap veteran chooses to use a brand-new electric guitar beat by producer Komplex. With the West Coast rap scene experiencing an elongated rap decline, Crook knows it will take a new leader to bring it back to prominence, stopping at nothing to see it through (or in his words, “right around the time you see Soulja Boy doing a song with Ice T”). Crooked I’s long-awaited The Block Obama mixtape landed online yesterday.
Komplex's production is off the chains. Crooked I smashed this man. This is like the hottest track I've heard from him. I'm definitely feeling this. Yeezy should hop on a remix to this! This is definitely hot. LOL...oh, and Burmy, speaking of "Swagger Like Us" being the new "Milli", expect a Minnesota rappers version from some new, young heavy hitters up north here. I'll send it over as soon as it's finished.
The guitar is hot on this one!! Crooked I just straight killed it and he is one of the best in the game right now. He ripped this one. Pretty soon he might get more attention and with songs like these he will get more looks. So underrated but too bad this is on a mixtape not on actual album. Straight classic!! 5
This was dope, in comparison to the other Swagga track, it doesn't but it is still good it it's own right. Crooked is finally gettin his attention in the mainstream. West West ya'll
I hope i dont have to listen to any more dudes rappin about their "swagga" if had enough of that @*#$! after the T.I joint...the beat on this is kool, but i'm not really feeling crooked on this
First, let me address CautionT2. You do NOT have to RICH or FAMOUS in order to make a song about having swagger. Honestly, if you don't possess swagger, you probably will NEVER achieve fame and fortune. So in this chicken or egg theory, swagger comes first. The production here by Komplex is refreshing, as I did not want to again hear Ye's version. Props for changing it up, hot mixtape!
I didn't understand the lyrics as always lol, but the production is cool! Compliments to Komplex, a really original and energetic production...but why is this song so short? Haven't heard such a short song for a while
caution... what in the world you talkin bout? what you callin swagger? money? that ain swagger man.. swagger is all in the attitude. Crooked got swagger, I like his tracks every now n then, this one is pretty good, beats fresh, even outta PC speakers. And patty it's short cuz its a mixtape track and mixtapes sometimes don have full length songs, but rather a brief verse or two to show off skills. plus they have about 20+ songs a mixtape not enough room for full length. anyways, good track, solid
swagger has never been about fame or money, because the cats with swagger now had the swagger before the dough. Like dj said, crook has always had that. I've heard better from crook, but good hear he's still sharp as ever.
Y'all got it all wrong man. Just because people attribute their monetary accomplishments or fame to their "swagger", that's not what it means. Like what was previously said, SWAGGER is about your attitude, the way you carry yourself. It's basically interchangeable with the word "style". Everybody has their own style and swagger in whatever they do...no matter what it is.
