Although rapper Crooked I has been active in the rap game for roughly thirteen years, label politics with Virgin, DPG, and Death Row have prevented him from releasing an “official” album. Now the B.O.S.S. of his own label, Dynasty Entertainment, the Long Beach native is planning the Beginning Of Something Serious this summer. On the album’s first single, Dream Big (an inadvertent complement to the buzz single of fellow SoCal rapper, The Game), Intriago gives a shout out to all his lofty goal-reaching friends. Complimentary assistance comes courtesy of Akon, who claims that although he’s “on top permanently,” he “stay in the streets” to bring that heat, and producer Detail and his bass-heavy beat. Please tell me that I misheard what Crooked I said in this song "the west coast treat me like I was Pac" (0:36). That line caught me of guard, I guess it goes with the title of the song "dream big," perhaps that's his hip-hop fantasy. Akon is a hook master. A mediocre song right here.

Crooked I is a lyrical God despite not having a studio album released yet. For those that don't know check out the hip hop weekly series or any of his mixtapes. On this track Crooked I has a bulletproof flow as usual, great production and even some support from Akon. What more could you need. I can't wait for the album to finally drop. Don't sleep on this dude he's one of the best in the game right now.

jesavail02 i agree tupac wtf, he never be, but his flow is nice and Akon never seems to stop amazin me with his hooks (he has a way with chorus on songs like nate dogg use to do.)

PLEASE, do not EVER compare Akon to Nate Dogg. Any credibility that you had, has gone out the window.
And Crooked I isn't on Pac's level, thats true, but the west coast DOES respect him. You wont find anyone out there who doesn't like him. Akon and Nate Dogg? Thats dogs and cats. Only comparison is they blow up on chorus (Nate Dogg has Akon beat lyrically... and by a large margin) |

The Maroon5/Adam Levine line made it for me! It’s always FRESH to hear a rapper going outside the standard subject/rhyme box with his lyrics. His flow is on point. Good hook by Akon, but not his best (he normally outshines the rapper, that’s not the case here). I’mma look for Crooked I from now on.
