Veteran rapper Crooked I has been around the game for ten-plus years. During that time, he has recorded material while signed to multiple labels, most famously alongside Suge Knight and the now-defunct Death Row Records, as well as current indie label, Dynasty Entertainment. Following up his “Hip-Hop Weekly,” in which he released a brand new freestyle every week for one full calendar year, the Long Beach native has dropped Banger On My Lap. Found on DJ Rhude’sWe Got Now Pt. 4, the song is highlighted by CI’s poignant flow and uncanny verbal assault. Intrigued? Look for Crooked I’s new album, B.O.S.S. (Beginning of Something Serious), later this year.
The only thing that would have made this get over the top for me... A NEW PAC VERSE. And I am NOT talking about some of that re-used mixtape stuff that keeps gettin' dug up. I mean some new Pac-was-just-in-the-studio-stuff. Who's with me?
The Finale - Crooked I, krazy song from 52 weeks ... I agree Crook is soo underrated , very knowledgeable mind .... This guy's hot right now ... He will never do good in mainstream tho, but thats cool ...
Z: this beat does remind me of something Pac would do.. too bad he won't be able to put a fresh verse on here ...or can he? Anyways, this track is unreal! the symphony(symphany? whatever) sounds good with that base, his lyrics dont surprise me in anyway, so 4* this is niicce
Hip Hop was walking off a cliff as time moved forward. There's no such thing as post-hip hop. Old school hip hop is coming back. Real hip hop is coming back. Thanks to Nas and the HHID movement, cats are ditching the commercial aspect and are moving back to lyricism. Anything stuck on materialism and gangsta rap will perish. The ratings on this whole website say it all. More talent = higher ratings.
@saxyman626, i think lyricism will come back, but materialism probably won't leave. why? well what other topics are out there? Politics? people listen to music to escape politics... Gangsta rap def feels like last century, which leaves us with... what? I think guys like Lupe are just novelties w/a small market. Mos Def, Talib, Common, for each one of them, there's plenty more commercial dudes out there wit deals. I think the bigger problem that no one talks about is that there are too many rappers. I mean look, this site points out 5 songs a day. How is it possible to listen to all of these dude's albums when they come out? Who the hell has all the money to buy them, or the time to listen to them? I think the main thing that'll drive hip-hop is production, with lyricism second. Most people don't remember specific rhymes or versus, but beats and music that makes them move. Look at Common. he'd be no-where wihout Kanye. Rick Ross? Just look at the producers. Even All Eyez on Me had nothin but dope production throughout it, same wit Makaveli.
I would like to note that DJJ said DJBooth features 5 new songs per day. That in fact is incorrect; we feature 7 brand new songs per day. Boooyaaaa playa!
I've never heard of Crooked I before and I probably won't ever hear of him again anywhere else unless i look him up myself but this dudes got some talent. Im def. gonna continue listening to him.
Crooked I always comes correct. This was a hott track & on point. Another Crooked I track that everyone should check out is... "New West Anthem" (N.W.A.)
I didn't think I'd like this so much, but like they say: "Never judge a book by its cover." I like the production and the lyrics are hot...and I usually find this style of rap over and done with. Pretty good track
