Co$$ (aka Ca$hus King) - Show Sum
Artist: Co$$ (aka Ca$hus King)
Producer: Beatnick Dee
Album: Before I Awoke
Label: Tres Records
Shameless sh*t-talking is one of rap’s most time-honored traditions – and if you’re talking sh*t about rappers for talking sh*t, so much the better! On this newly leaked album cut, Time Is Now emcee Co$$ does just that, suggesting that rhymesayers who talk the talk without walking the walk should man up and Get Sum guts. Beatnick Dee‘s understated organ/breakbeat instrumental sets a groovy, retro-informed mood as Co$$ berates his peers for their lack of testicular fortitude, dropping a relentless stream of imaginative burns and free-associated food/weed-related imagery. Co$$ may be a big talker but, considering the creativity he showcases here, I have no doubt that readers will Show Sum appreciation. Those who like what they’re hearing have plenty to look forward to in the months ahead: following the summer/early-fall arrival of his Before I Awoke LP, the artist will be releasing a yet-untitled mixtape collaboration with Being Cool Doesn’t Pay the Bills producer Numonics.

If you title your song "Show Sum" you obviously need to come with it and, well, show something. Co$$ does just that.
In fact, I was so impressed with this song that I decided to invite Co$$ to be a part of our Freestyle Series. Dude has talent on the mic... tell a friend. |

Nice uptempo, well done production. Especially a fan of the piano. Coss really comes with it on this one. His energy matches the energy and maybe surpasses it, really impressed with this look.

Co$$ flowed on this track perfectly. Production was pretty refreshing, especially the piano that occasionally goes off in the background. Third verse was crazy. Enjoyed that Cheech and Chong reference.
I could see myself playing this again, but at the same time it lacks a WoW factor to really put it over the top. |

The flow here is something that cannot be taught. I'm particularly impressed with this track, i like his previous features, this just isn't in my taste.

@richard: Ha! @ Testicular Fortitude...Well Said
Richard said it best...the imagery and imaginative burns are what stood out the most. I agree with many the beat and production were pretty sweet. Not much else to add thought it was deserving of a rotated rating. |

Ha at Richard pointing out the shit talking paradox in the intro, too true.
And I can see why Z offered the man a freestyle invite. This is easily one of the best flows on the site today, props to C0$$. Most rappers would have had a hard time rhyming over such subtle production, but Co$$ stays in pocket. |

Correction: Like 149th said, his flow was on point. But that's about it imo.
