Despite the fact that he has never achieved the same commercial success as his Queensbridge contemporaries Nas and Mobb Deep, Cormega has stuck around, kind of like a recurring sore throat that you don’t want to lose because you like the way it makes your voice sound. Tracks like Fresh, his newest single, indicate that he won’t be leaving us anytime soon. The song hearkens back to the golden era of hip hop, showcasing the talents of old-timers DJ Red Alert, PMD, KRS-One, Big Daddy Kane and Grand Puba. Producer Emile lays down a vintage-sounding beat, giving the track a mid-90’s, summertime headnodder feel. Feel free to bump it in the whip with the windows rolled down. Fresh will appear on his upcoming album, Born and Raised.
Mega is one of the greats! Too bad the world been sleepin. Between him and Crooked I, I would like to see them finallly get they shine on. Cause they both been true to the culture and have always been bringin the heat. This is crazy. Some of the greats to do it on this one. Don't rest on this. Dispite the beat being sleepy. This is heat
Hm, didn't know 'Mega changed the name of his album. Personally I think "The Inevitable" sounded a lot better (plus it went with the "The..." theme he had goin' on with his last 3 records lol) but a Cormega album is a Cormega album. As for the actual song, it's dope as @*#$!, and new jacks need to wake up and recognize skill when DJBooth has kindly presented it to y'all. "Born & Raised" should be fire.
I know this has the whole old school legends on this track, so before everyone gets their panties in a bunch for my low rating just know that I got mad respect for them. As for this particular song, not feeling the beat or the lyrics. Just dont really know why, but its a big pass for me. 2/5.
there has beeen soooooo many annoyinh beats today. this is getting stressful. its hard to liek the song when you dont liek the beat. i'm just gonna give it 2 stars and callit a day.
yeah-yeah,just what i expected...another track well selected and connected with lyrics perfected definite mega fresh hit that get neglected by the same critics who said hip hop was dead but the n word is resurrected.
Cormega has been one of the best for a while. Never got the shine he deserved. PMD came alright. I've never been a fan of Puba. KRS was ill. Kane is one of my favorite of all time. This is why. Put them all on a beat by Emile and you got fire.
Patty Patty85,,you should neva rate on songs like this..because i know you hate old school hip hop tracks..
and 2, you only give 5's to club bangers..you ONLY EVER LISTEN TO THE BEAT...neva the lyrics huhh???
