Copywrite - Golden State (Of Mind)
Artist: Copywrite
Featuring: Evidence , Roc Marciano
Producer: Vanderslice
Album: God Save the King
Label: Unsigned
It seems that California and New York are in a constant battle over how many anthems each state can respectively dedicate to themselves. The latest entry into this spoken war is Copywrite’s Golden State (Of Mind), featuring Casual, Evidence and Roc Marciano. Though Marci’s placement on a track devoting bars of love to the west seems a bit out of place, the Vanderslice produced cut comes together well over a slower beat that features some nice synth lines. Copywrite starts the track off with some witty raps but it’s Casual that steals the track with his verse; the Heiro representer flips his words in the standard fresh way for which Casual is best known. The chorus ties the song together very well and serves as a short break before its Evidence and Roc’s turn to rhyme. Both emcees carry themselves well, particularly Marciano who states that his Cali brethren are “cold hearted like orphans” and then states “If B you not a shooter what you doin playin offense?” Golden State is the third single from Copy’s forthcoming album, God Save The King, slated for release on February 26 via Man Bites Dog Records. For those not able to wait until then, iTunes is hosting an exclusive pre-release date sale of the record starting tomorrow.

I can't believe there isn't an album review of God Save The King yet, I am predicting this will be one of the dopest albums of the year, and that's a bold statement considering how early in the year it is. Copy has only gotten better with time. I even like this album more than the High Exhaulted. This particular track isn't my absolute favorite on the album but regardless this is still dope and the album is a front to back banger with no need for a skip button.
