Consequence - I'm V.I.P.
Artist: Consequence
Featuring: Diggy Simmons , Mac Miller
Producer: Lee Bannon
Album: Movies on Demand 2 Mixtape
Label: Band Camp Records
On his last mixtape leak, Consequence took us back to the days when realness reigned supreme in the game, and he had to use a Fake I.D. to get into the local spot. A decade and change later, the Queens mainstay doesn’t even have to flash his driver’s license to get into the hottest venues – why? As the oh-so-consequential emcee puts it on his latest offering, “I’m V.I.P..” Drawing inspiration (and a chorus) from Biggie‘s ‘95 classic Big Poppa, beatsmith Lee Bannon lays down some head-noddably retro guitar-led boardwork as the G.O.O.D. emcee flexes his punchline muscles, lacing his bars with braggadocio and laid-back wit. Buzzmaking guests Diggy Simmons and Mac Miller follow suit, the former quipping, “You be actin’ like a monster, the Loch Ness monster, but you’re more like Antoine Dodson’s sister’s robber.” in his clever middle 16. Digging this midtempo banger? Fans will be able to hear Cons rock plenty more dope grooves later this months, when his long-awaited Movies on Demand 2 mixtape hits the ‘net for free streaming and download.

What an odd collabo...lovin it though! Con did a GREAT job staying hot on here since I'm guessing the majority of people will listen to this just to hear Diggy. No lie though Diggy is fire. Not sure how I feel on Mac yet, but the overall record was hot.

First off, the production is a great backdrop to display some vocal/lyrical talent. The sample on the hook aint too shabby, either. Am I the only one that's getting excited about what Diggy can do in the future? I am impressed by every track I hear the kid on. Con is solid as usual and Mac keeps it smooth on the back end.

Everybody had a solid verse, but in my opinion, it wasn't that good.

LOL @cb... I did listen to this track just to hear my dude Diggy. He got serious star potential and I think he can deliver. Anyway, the sample is cool and the beat is on-point. Diggy did the best on this track. The rest was aaaaiiiiight... Rotation Easily on the strength of Diggy...

The record is solid, but that is in large part due to the production/sampling work of Lee Bannon and the scratches of Statik. Both Diggy and Mac, who are primed for a big 2011, turn is nice efforts, but their places on the song feel out of sorts. I guess I am not used to Cons collaborating with the hip hop youth movement.

The production is the selling point here. You dont need to say much to sound good over this. Cons killed it and as Z said Diggy and Mac sounded a bit out of place but they did bring it.

Hearing two young dudes like this over such an obviously grown man beats sounds a little off to me, but still a solid effort all around. Obviously Cons' attempt at bringing in a younger crowd to his music, and it might just work.

Wow the production is crazy good in this from Lee Bannon. This is a very old school type record. Im loving this from Consequence. Him having Diggy in this is perfect. Diggy can really spit. I have been listening to him forever. He is reallt talented and is the future. As for Mac Miller: he killed his verse. And i hope to see more of him for now on. This is a banger, no doubt.

This is an odd collabo. Two young up and comers on this type of beat but it still does not dissapoint. Theres enough lyrical prowess for me to throw it in rotation.
