Hailing from the NYC borough of Queens, rapper Consequence is surrounded by a strong hip-hop heritage. So on the new track, Q-U-E Another E-N-S, Cons boasts about practically everything Queens has brought to the world (The Mets and the U.S. Open are two of his favorites). While Cons delivery has the same laid-back, yet powerful flow heard on Don’t Quit Your Day Job, Doc Suss‘ hyptotic beat and Statik Selektah‘s sampling of two Queens classic’s (Mobb Deep and Big Noyd’s Party Over and L.L.’s Rock the Bells) are what puts the song over the top. Both informative and entertaining, Q-U-E Another E-N-S deserves to be bumped through speakers from Flushing to Jamaica and beyond.
Consequence's records never seem to overly impress me to the point where I start to consider him as a big threat in the battle of the lyricists. He can spit no doubt, but nothing stands out from his word play. It sounds like he's stuck between the mainstream and the underground and he needs to find his place soon.
This definitely sounds like a Queensbridge production. His Flow is pretty good, but then again, so was Saigon's flow. And he didn't go anywhere; and I think the same will be true for Consequence. I can't see anyone going crazy for this guy to come out with an album. He doesn't even have that much street buzz; so I think this will remain on mixtapes for a long time. Decent track though, but nothing to sell records from!
One of the most underrated MCs in all of Hip-Hop. We are talking about him because he is signed to G.O.O.D. Music, but he would be MUCH better off NOT in the shadow of Kanye. This makes me wanna hear 50 Cent-pre gun shot to the face.
I’ma always support someone with versatile flow and wordplay, plus a Statik Selektah beat, it’s worth listening! Unfortunately you all right about him being lost in the middle and lacking charisma, etc…
Cons is very underrated...no doubt. This is something you'd hear on that underground east coast radio like with my boy A.B on Rutgers Radio Sundays. I mean, this is dope. I believe no one gets used to this style because we don't put it out there. If he was to make a video for this and release it as a single, it would get some kind of rotation and at least introduce an old school flava to us youngins.
