Consequence - Closer

Today, at HBO’s Latino Film Festival, Rik Cordero will take viewers Inside a Change for the very first time.  To build yet more buzz for the hotly-anticipated feature film’s premiere, Cordero and a star-studded lineup of hip-hop’s best and brightest have dropped a soundtrack mixtape, complete with theme song Closer.  Like Wale‘s Family Affair and J.A.M.E.S. Watts’ You’re My Life, this track offers a first-person glimpse into IaC‘s plot—this time around,  Consequence flows from the perspective of Darius, a central character played by the Queens emcee himself.  Where the aforementioned tracks sounded designed for tear-soaked, emotional moments, Closer has a cheerier feel; Statik Selektah‘s light, sunny boardwork, along with Paula Campbell‘s airy hook and backing vocals (together, the three collaborators make up supergroup Band Camp), add up to the perfect “opening credits” jam.  Those who like what they hear can find more on the IaC soundtrack, available for download here.
