Consequence - Fake I.D.
Artist: Consequence
Featuring: Q-Tip , Large Professor , Havoc
Producer: The Produce Section
Album: Movies on Demand 2 Mixtape
Label: Band Camp Records
I know what you’re thinking: aren’t Consequence and his cohorts a little old to need Fake I.D.s? While it has been a minute since the Queens vet had to enjoy his liquor illicitly, this new mixtape leak finds Cons addressing a topic slightly more pressing than booze: authenticity – specifically, the shameful lack of it in today’s game. Over The Produce Section‘s appropriately retro, Chipmunk-sampled beat, the rapper takes us back to an era when realness was more than just a word. With the help of Mobb Deep heavyweight Havoc, the headliner gives modern-day wannabes a sound thrashing, exposing such common practices as fibbing about one’s past, biting styles and hiring ghostwriters for what (he argues) they are: a betrayal of hip-hop’s roots. Though some may be bummed to hear Q-Tip and Large Professor, two vets who could undoubtedly drop some knowledge on the subject, confined to the hook, the record should nonetheless leave old-school heads nodding in agreement. For more fresh (and certifiably real) tunes, check out Cons’ long-awaited Movies on Demand 2 mixtape, due out “soon.”

Dope record with some dope production (I could find other words to use besides dope, but my brain is tired). I would have bumped this rating up if Tip and Pro actually spit verses, but I'll take it for what its worth.

Hmmmm, I dont know how you get Havoc, Extra P, and Tip on a track, but have it produced by someone other than them. That being said the beat isnt that bad but not feeling Cons on this one.

I don't think I'm as down on this as a lot of other folks seem to be, but I think we can all agree that for the talent involved it's not as dope as we expected.

Well the production from The Produce Section is the best part of the whole song. Everything else is very weak and boring. Im personaly a Consequence fan, but this is not the reason why. This is a bad record from him. The subject of the song is so dumb. Who sins about fake I.D.'s, lol. The verses from Tip, Large Professor, and Havoc are very weak. Its like they didnt even try. This is a "forget me" record.

The only reason I even bothered to listen to this track was because of Tip, Large Pro, & Havoc.
This is 3.5 IMO. |

And also how the hell do you get Large Pro, Tip, & Havoc all on the same track and not one of those 3 produced the track?
