For weeks now G.O.O.D. Music representer Consequence has been rolling out the red carpet for his new mixtape Movies on Demand, and today he’s celebrating the release of his long-awaited mixtape by dropping standout track Don’t Stand So Close to Me. When Cons named the project Movies on Demand, he obviously was looking to make vividly visual music, and thanks to a cinematic beat from producer Statik Selektah that’s heavily influenced by The Police’s 1980 hit of the same name, Stand So Close serves as the soundtrack to Cons’ and guest artist Styles P’s lives as the duo rhymes in couplets that unveil a criminally good storyline: “I’m tryin to figure out, why you pulled out the mask / things aren’t adding up, so help me do the math.” If you’re digging this one you’ll definitely want to grab your popcorn, turn down the lights and download Movies on Demand, available now, and keep an ear out for Cons’ upcoming ConsTV album, due out later this year.

Cons recent DJBooth features have been hit or miss with the Booth populous. I have no doubt that "Don't Stand So Close To Me" will find the consensus opinion swayed toward the positive end of the rating/feedback spectrum. Statik does what he does so well, Styles P sounds at home over the street-ready production, and Cons turns-in an always consistent performance.

Solid mixtape track right here. Statik came with another hot production and Cons and Styles both did their thing. Rotation.

This is a nice change of pace for Cons. He comes with the same cadence quite a bit so hearing him flow different is dope. Styles and Statik Came with there usual fire too.

Movies on Demand is downloading as I speak. Very nice record, different dark sound but it speaks. The hook coulda been better but I'm not gonna get picky. Very impressive.

My apologies to R. Kelly, but the Police's Don't Stand So Close is the best "this high school girl is super hot but I don't want to get charges with statutory rape" song of all time, and while the topic's completely different, Cons definitely does that legacy proud. I have to say though, I might have enjoyed Styles flow on this one just a little more. Either way, I'd like to hear more rappers trading off rhymes like this. Let's make it happen.

I think this is the first time I have yet to agree with DJ Z. I wasn't feeling this cons track what so ever. It isn't his story, and it isn't his feel. The hook was hideous. The rhymes were below par. Styles P doesn't belong collaborating with cons, he has a jail-house flow and cons is way more clever with word play. He dumbed it down, and for me it was terrible. Bad from beginning to end. I was really disappointed. Consequence is held a lot higher than this.

i was looking for big things when i saw statik's name on the producing section- im a big fan of his recent work. nothing happened to change that view here but like ghouse i feel the hook was well below-par. styles was alright as was cons but not his best

haha! Downloadin' as I write this. Love the Police lift-re-made chorus. I love it when rappers feature Djs and add cuts to their joints! Delivery is tight on this simple flow and rhyme scheme - the emotional infusion is on point and makes this one work for me. Good music, Thanks. I vacillate between 3.5 and 4. Gets the extra .5 as the chorus is so dope, and because I can play this with my seed in the room.
