Apparently finally finished remixing and re-remixing his smash single Whatever U Want, proud Queens representer Consequence today let loose some brand new material in the form of Childish Games, the first leak off his pre-album mixtape Cons TV: Movies on Demand. Built around some somber production from Mr. Attic, who seamlessly combines a dark bass line, distorted piano line and Biggie vocal sample, Childish Games is the story of a man (Consequence) who finally realizes the things he previously sought after are nothing but juvenile dreams. Cons’ rhymes here are unsurprisingly fresh, but what is surprising is guest artist Asher Roth’s verse, who puts his partying ways aside and instead engages in some unapologetically grown man talk. Could we be witnessing the death of Mr. I Love College? Asher’s lyrical growth aside, this is the kind of track that makes me believe Cons’ new album Cons TV is going to be very dope – but first we’ll be treated to an album appetizer in the form of the Movies on Demand mixtape, due to drop in February. Keep it locked for more.

Production with the sample is really well done. Cons always brings consistent music and the message is great here. Asher was impressive on this track. @Nathan - I don't think it is the death of "Mr. I Love College" I just think it shows his versatility, haha. Oh, and the fact that it is on a mixtape... incredible.

it was good

On a somewhat related note, rappers release way to many mixtapes, idk if its just me, but i dont see the point of mixtapes, to me, its just wasted material, and its sad that mixtapes are often better than actual albums. Thats whats gonna happen to Drake

This song should be on his next album, its dirty to say the least.

@tyme, wait until Drake's album drops, I have a feeling he will not disappoint.

CheedMoney: I hope not, he has quickly grown to one of my favorite rappers, but theres that little feeling that it might be bad, I can't wait for it though

Now here's an example of the production and flow working in perfect harmony. I expect this kind of high quality work from Cons, but not necessarily from Asher. Hopefully he's serious about leaving behind childish games, he's got too much talent to waste it on party rap.

I agree with what the Ripper said. Mixtapes are great for young guys to promote their talent, but once your a big name in the industry, I don't really see the point.

Chill beat, something you can smoke to.

Con is liquid hip hop. He's really been impressing me, definitely turning out to be one of the better artists of today.

I was mildly impressed with Asher Roth, but was aware of his ability to adapt to songs already.

Overall, 3.5

The expert DJ cuts and perfectly-timed B.I.G. samples, and both Cons and Asher driving the beat nicely with their potent verses making sure that this joint will stay in my rotation for a long time.

Patiently waiting for "The Greenhouse Effect 2" and "Cons TV".

Great song for a mix-tape cut. Asher has earned his respect from the hip-hop community. Decent track.

Not a fan of Asher Roth, because on early productions he sounds way too much like Slim Shady, and he does follow some what of pattern that Slim has done, this was a well colabo between the two. I would love to see Asher blossom and continue in the game rather than fade like a limp bizkit. Though the music genres are different, it is hard for an artist that is white without competeting against eminem, witch is impossible, because you can't compete against that guy. He is a one of a kind and forever will be. Which is awesome, I love his old style of raps and what he has standed for. The comparison between the two are only by voice, not lyrical content because eminem can blow almost anyone outta the water. I like that Cons, took the chance with Asher, I felt they made a great pair and an awesome song. I hope to hear more from each artist.

I just caught this again on Consequence's Movies On Demand Mixtape. Two great performances. I knew Cons would show up, but Asher's verse was a very pleasant suprise.
