Consequence - Alphabet Boys
Artist: Consequence
Producer: Kanye West, cuts by Statik Selektah
Album: Movies on Demand 2
Label: Band Camp Records
I’m going to go out on a limb here: Consequence is so underrated, it’s almost criminal, and I’m sure I’m not the only person who feels this way. Whether he’s a featured artist on a record, or on his own he rarely disappoints, and this lead song, Alphabet Boys, from his forthcoming Movies on Demand 2 is no exception. None other than Kanye West lays the foundation for the track, which can only be described as gritty-yet-melodic, while ‘Quence delivers his signature flow and wordplay amidst cuts by Statik Selektah. Although Cons doesn’t come off as particularly threatening overall, this track suggests that he’s not above “putting a semi to your colon,” which activated my side-eye somewhat. Whatever you say ‘Quence! You look like a teddy bear, so I’m going to go ahead and say “you need more people” on that one. Still, hopefully Alphabet Boys will be one more win in his long fight to be properly respected. No date has been given for the release of Movies on Demand 2, or his long awaited Cons TV album, but we’ll undoubtedly be hearing more from Consequence in the coming days.

Cons only plays ball with the big boys these days. The man is definitely serious about playing the game. An entire project like this deserves more than a mixtape tag. Only time will tell if that changes.

Bout to bounce to this, he just rapped the whole alphabet! That's lyricism.

I wanted to like this so much, but it got boring. The production didn't do much to pick it up either.

Not too many beats have this feel. Upright bass with a very ill swing to it. Feeling this track.

I have to say XuUP17 and I always seem to think alike. I wanted to dig this so much, but the beat's more droning than I'd like, and while Cons is a hell of a lyricist, this isn't even close to one of the best alphabet songs. (See Gift of Gab).
I've got nothing but respect for Cons, which is why I was hoping for more. |

The production is definately too low-key here. Its just not engaging at all, which kind of goes the same for the whole song, but Consequence saves it a bit... just not quite enough.

I agree that con’s is underrated and movies on demand was on point, but I feel like he could have came harder on this track.
