DJ Booth Exclusive Freestyle

The 173rd entry in our DJBooth.net Freestyle Series comes courtesy of Concise Kilgore, the Utah native who earned reader approval for mixtape track Dusted back in February. On his brand new, exclusive The Craving freestyle, the currently unsigned emcee flows over original boardwork by Brisk Oner. Concise Kilgore is currently preparing for the summer arrival of several new projects; in addition to dropping his sophomore solo album, Kobain, he and King Coz (together known as the Houston Rock-Its) will be hooking up to release a new collaborative EP entitled Rocket Science.

Readers can download a copy of In the Booth (Volume 4), featuring exclusive freestyles 91 through 120, here! Volumes one, two and three are available for download here, here and here. Watch for Volume 5 to hit our front page in late May.

First of all, thanks to Concise and Brisk for puttin' it down for the Booth.

You can always tell when an artist really took the time to come up with something dope for the Series, as opposed to some who've kinda "mailed it in" so to speak. In this case, its obvious that both the emcee/producer carefully concocted a dope entry. It has more of a record feel than a freestyle, but the original beat and solid Booth inclusions do the trick for me.

Don't like the beat too much, but Concise can spit!! 'Indecent Proposal' was a good project, can't wait to see how 'Kobain' & 'Rocket Science' go!

Nice addition to the series, but as Z points out it has more of an original song feel than a freestyle [mainly due to the chorus]. Overall it's an enjoyable listen, and I'll be on the lookout for more material from Concise.

I've been supporting Concise for a minute now because of his fearlessly creative rhyme style, and that's why I've got nothing but love for this one. Crazy beat from Brisk - sounds like some El-P Def Jux ish - and Concise, well, "I take it back to '98 while the rest of you copy Drake." Exactly.

Extra points for hip-hop's first Kevin McHale shout out.

Lyrically the hook sounded a bit off, but Concise's verses were nicely crafted. Production could really get on my nerves after awhile, but I am biased, Concise is a great MC.

I don't know. If this was a DJ Booth song series I'd probably say it's rotation worthy, but the structure doesn't do it for me.

Concise has a good flow, although it sounds kinda choppy at times, but overall it's an ok track.

Doesn’t lack lyrically throughout, but the backing track lost its appeal too soon. Rotation-Stuff.
