Remember when people used to write songs about how love had the power to end global strife and make soldiers lay down their weapons? Well, okay, that was a few decades before I was born, but it was definitely a nice sentiment (if sort of implausible). Whether due to a rise in cynicism or a simple lack of LSD, times have most definitely changed, and this new track by reader favorite Colin Munroe is proof. Start A War finds the North Gower, Ontario-born singer/songwriter asking a lucky lady to play Helen of Troy to his Paris, caught in the grips of a love that, if requited, could spell the end of civilization as we know it. Nuclear missiles and global destruction might not be the most romantic images in the book, but Munroe’s smooth, studio-enhanced vocal stylings are as persuasively catchy as ever, and his driving electropop beat hits home with the force of an unusually chill megaton bomb. Though this track isn’t slated to appear on the tracklist of Colin Munroe’s debut LP, Don’t Think Less of Me, an earlier-recorded version featuring fellow Booth favorite XV will be included on the Kansan rapper’s long-awaited Everybody’s Nobody mixtape.

What the heck!? This isn't at all like his older stuff...in fact I don't know why this is even in the both. This is just like some of those teen pop singers out there. Where's "Cannon Ball" with Drake, or the "Who Killed Davey Moore" Colin?

Funky fresh, baby! Colin's diverse skills as both a singer and a beatsmith are on display here. I dig his layered vocals on the hook. Real real catchy.
@Baer - There is another version, featuring XV, which we also were sent. Colin's people asked that we feature his solo version only, but if you are looking for material similar to his last mixtape... |

The beat is catchy and Colin Munroe's voice sounds pretty good. Nice summer pop. I would still prefer the XV version however.

Not every booth-heads style, I know. But I am a sucker for catchy pop music. Can't help it. This guy had some smooth vocals and an enjoyable listen. Would have liked to hear XV on here, I'll check that out.

I'm sort of on the same page wit Baer, this is far from Colin's best work. What I have come to realize about Munroe is that his vocals are really nothing special, they are very average. He often makes up for that, though with smooth tracks wit great melodies. This is not one of them...

This goes in my Sunny-Doing-stuff-on-a-afternoon Pile. This song is up-beat and laid back at the same time.(I'm not crazy) The replay value on this is very high. Very Groovy, (Yea, I said Groovy) I dig it!!!
@Baer - You very right this isn't like some of his past tracks, But did you like the song??? |

Just ok for me. If I could've given it a 2.5, I would've. The beat and production were the highlights for me. Definitely has a funky pop feel to it. I can listen to this again, but only at the right time (which would be by myself or with a lady)

Colin Munroe and his studio baby voice machine are gonna be famous. Way weaker than Piano Lessions, Cannon Ball, Will I Stay, or What the Young Man Says....but still hottish.
