The 161st entry in our DJBooth.net Freestyle Series comes courtesy of Cobe Obeah, the Los Angeles native who recently earned reader acclaim for mixtape track Director’s Cut. On his brand new, exclusive 360 Degrees freestyle, the currently-unsigned emcee/producer flows over original boardwork by the Argonauts. Cobe Obeah is currently preparing for the May 28, release of his latest street album, Song of the Starz.

The flow of Cobe's freestyle starts off a little too nonchalent for my liking, but as he gets going the free gets better and better. At the end, during the breakdown that includes a sung/rapped flow, I was the most entertained.
While I wish Cobe would have opted to go with this style throughout, the overall end result is enjoyable. Kudos on the use of original production.

i like the way he starts dj-z i think its edgy and really leads up too the ending of that sung rap song this is definitly too my liking no lie
good job i think, cant wait too here some more from the guy. |

I don't feel like the beat and the artist go with each other. Put this freestyle on a better beat and put more emphasis on his lyrics so I can actually feel him, then it would be better. Like the shout outs, but still this song just isn't doing it. he has talent as it shows, but this just isn't the song for me. Could do better I believe.

Cobe + Argonauts = Nothing short of four stars every single time I hear a track by them together! Cobe started off pretty slow, but once he got going, he was un-stoppable. Can't wait for that tape to drop. Cobe has mad talent and with the argonauts behind him, I can't even contemplate a reason as to why he won't reach the top.

Cobe's a good writer, but he's got work to do on the delivery side. Keep practicing. Don't just say your lyrics, mean them.

I think the almost non-existent production hurt this freestyle a little...but since it is a freestyle I guess it's acceptable.
He can rap no doubt..and his lyrics have meaning...and even included the DJbooth.net in there haha...I could have lived without the singing he threw in randomly at the end maybe cause it wasn't really on pitch. Good effort though with the flow and lyrics |

The rapping was great, but not a huge fan of the singing rap parts. The production was average nothing special.

Not gonna lie this is some really above average lyrics if you compare to main stream which is definitely messing with peoples judgements :( i like this song

The beat sounds a bit off beat in some parts. Cobe has a nice flow though, Director's Cut showed his true potential.

Not sure why it has such a low rating. I'll be honest, that's my kind of music. Beat was off the hook and his flow was flawless except for the beginning.

Cobe shows glimpses of greatness on this one, but he doesn't quite put it together throughout the entire track. Right now I'd call him the Andrew Bynum of rap. Sometimes disappears, capable of having huge games, and he's young so it's still way too early to drop a verdict.
In other words, I'll definitely take more Cobe anyday. Excited to hear what the man can do.

Agree with some of the members. A technically sound flow but still it somehow didn't engaged you completely. Anyhow, this deserves a three star rating... at least!

What?! For me, the flow was sick!
Plus, this was more like a real freestyle and not something previously written, not to mention the beat is original and very enjoyable! So simple, yet engaging. I definitely wasn't with the low ratings wave of my fellow djbooth members this week! ;) |
