Clinton Sparks - Favorite DJ (Green Lantern Remix)
Artist: Clinton Sparks
Featuring: Jim Jones , Game , Bun B
Producer: DJ Green Lantern
Album: None
Label: Get Familiar
From DJ Clue? in the 90s to DJ Khaled in the 2000s, DJs have always built homes for dope emcees to live in, and it’s nice to see that nothing’s changed in the new decade. Now in 2011, we still have DJs serving up beats for the game’s hottest rappers to jump on, like the Evil Genius DJ Green Lantern’s remix of Clinton Sparks’ hit Favorite DJ. Green provides a more hip-hop take for the remix compared to the more electronic-influenced original, but both are serious jams that could do damage in both clubs in the hood and downtown. For the mic side of the equation Lantern enlists an all-star team representing different regions of the country; think about it like the McDonalds All Star basketball team, but for hip-hop. Diplomats alum and Harlem vet Jim Jones starts the record off strongly, followed by always dependable Houston legend Bun B and an unusually fast-flowing Game providing the clutch finishing verse. So Booth, it’s up to you now - will you be getting familiar to this remix at your local spot?

Props to Sparks for always reminding people about the importance of the DJ, and for involving other, fellow DJs in everything that he does (well, hello Green!). Bun is his usual entertaining self here, but I came away most impressed with Jones and Game. Jones usually sounds apathetic and Game has been that way as of late, but both emcees shine over the revamped production.

Liked the concept a lot, and this track would probably make a DJ's work easy. All artists really did well on here, even Jim Jones. For such a random collabo, though, it worked. The remix production was missing a little something though. Maybe some extra bass, but nonetheless this could rock clubs.

So I thought not even Green Lantern will pull these 3 together...however... Jones is good! Bun B is ok but the surprise is Game, wtf? Seriously that slightly faster flow is on point. Game should be hitting Green Lantern up for a Tape.

Green Lantern's revamped beat is pretty dope.
All three MCs grow surprisingly hard! Good East, South, and West combo. |

Sorry, typo fail "GO"* hard. =P
I'm especially surprised with Game's flow. Especially from all the wack stuff he's been droppin' solo recently; he should use this flow more often. |

What a tune... A lot better than the original. This beat is huge and everyone fits perfectly. Game surprised me with a very solid verse

I actually liked this a lot more than I thought I would. The beat knocks, and these were some of the better flows I've heard from Jones and Game in a minute. (Seriously, this is so much better than a lot of his recent stuff I almost don't believe it's actually game. Go DJ indeed.

Almost a perfect five star but i think personally jones brought the track down a little, not hatin just dont think this is his beat. Bun killed it as usual, Game proved why he's the king of the west here, finally getting back into it. game goes perfect with the beat.
