City Haze - Tell Me What's Good [Premiere]
Artist: City Haze
Producer: Andrew Lloyd & Mike Blud
Album: Star of the City
Label: Unsigned
If you were to say to me at this very moment, “Hey Richard, Tell Me What’s Good!”, my initial response would most likely be, “What the hell are you doing in my apartment?!” After calling the cops, though, I’d probably tell you, “City Haze‘s latest single is making its world premiere in the Booth tonight – that’s what’s good!” This track off the Brooklyn native’s debut LP sees Haze exercising his powers of persuasion on a female clubgoer he’s hoping to take home at the end of the night, plying her with promises of shopping sprees and top-shelf liquor. Co-producers Andrew Lloyd & Mike Blud back the emcee’s game-spitting with glossy synths and a clap-along rhythm, and singer Kyle “K.O.” Owens ties it all together with some silky-smooth hook vocals. Like what you’re hearing? If so, you’ll be able to find this track, the reader-acclaimed Rewind That, and much more on the rising star’s debut studio album, Star of the City, when it arrives at record stores and online retailers this spring.

high synth, high powered song i see where its going...man something is just missing from this song...too much reverb on that damn clap...beat is ok...this is so cliche even the hook...this won't go that far...this def. lacks creativity...i would play this a lil in the club...but i wouldn't play it a lot cause the demand wouldn't be high at all...this is straight almost got a three star but not quite its almost a solid song but not quite

What's really good? This record certainly is as Richard points out in his blurb. The production is upbeat and K.O. does his part on catching my ear on the chorus. Not really the type of record I would expect from Haze after "Lost In Tokyo", but this a good addition to this week's lineup.

You cannot hate on an artist for trying his hand at a song that appeals toward the mainstream music consuming public. The key, of course, is making it sound anything but forced. This does not sound forced... at all. This actually works quite well.

Artist..Definition Artistic...A Good Song...You have to listen to it more than once....if you don't then you won't visualize the whole picture the artist is portraying.

I can appreciate a run at commercial success but this is a weak attempt being too generic not memorable enough

I've got nothing but love for this one. There's nothing wrong with some enjoyable hip-pop if done well, and City Haze delivered.

The production and hook carries this joint to rotation status, but City Haze, who don't put much effort into verses just fades into background. A more complete effort with better rhymes is possible. Overall, nothing new but entertaining fa sho!

This song has no creativity and is commercial like everything else that is currently on the radio. The beat is average at best and the high synths and reverbs drown and heavily take away from what the artist is trying to express with their verses.
