Perhaps because so many of us learned the English alphabet in the form of a song, the ABCs have enjoyed a special popularity in the world of music. As underground hip-hop fans may remember, Papoose and K. Sparks both spit inspired bars centered on one letter at a time, Pap on indie classic Alphabetical Slaughter and Sparks on Manic Mondays opener Dictionary. Now, Ciara‘s crafted an uptempo dance song with a similar concept. As she travels from (A-Z), the singer’s primary focus is on the seventh letter of the alphabet—after all, G Is For Girl as well as “gangsta.” A few of CiCi’s Love Sex Magic collaborators return on this cut, as Justin Timberlake and his production team The Y’s (made up of Rob Knox and James Fauntleroy) handle the chorus ad-libs and beat, and the end result should get an “A+” from many of our readers. One last note for all you fans: ‘F’ is for Fantasy Ride and also for the Fifth of May—hopefully that’ll help you remember to pick up a copy of Ciara’s junior album when it hits stores next month.

This is not even interesting. The only reason I listened to this is to see what lame lyrics she came up wit for each letter. The beat is OK, but the concept, lyrics, and melody are all corny.

This definitely had energy, but I didn't think it was that great, especially for Ciara. The hook was tight but I wasn't feelin the flow of her verses. Barely in rotation.

Unlike the two GEMS mentioned in the blurb above her lyrics are really predictable... hahaha ... but
it's nice, upbeat, and somewhat different... I can see its appeal ... 'Anthem' ... but not for me ... Yup! Barely in rotation ... |

Absolutely no Ciara fan, but she did ok. Production is good. I really like the songwriting approach. Having that concept idea is maybe not THAT unique now and was done already, but its anyway pretty hard to actually actualize it and make it sound that good at the end...

The BEST part of this record is the production from Justin's The Y's. Rob Knox is the man behind T.I.'s "Dead and Gone" success and that is exactly the case once again on "G is for Girl."

Not her best work by a long shot. Not saying the two should be compared but if you want to hear somebody going A - Z check out Alphabet Aerobics by Blackalicious and produced by Cut Chemist. That's a song that truly uses the ABC's.

This is definitely something different from Ciara and it will actually be a good addition to the album. The song by itself and for what it is, is only OK to me. But All the other songs so far are BANGERS, so I can except an experimental track from time to time...Still can't wait for the album!

This is quite catchy, I'd listen to this on the radio or in a club...I'm sure it has to grow on me, melody is quite unusual, but I've heard worse by her! Good beat!
