Chrome Cats - Goodbye Granny
Artist: Chrome Cats
Producer: Louis Fader
Album: None (Promo Single)
Label: Lakefront Records
While dedication records tend to lean towards the more somber end of the musical spectrum, California-based brother and sister duo Chrome Cats, which consists of Korland “KJ” Sims and Jamila “Mila” Sims, are out to celebrate the life of the grandmother they recently lost with their newest song Goodbye Granny. The song noticeably samples Biz Markie’s classic record Just A Friend thanks to producer Louis Fader who keeps Goodbye Granny upbeat with a combination of drum kicks and keys. The duo continuously refer to their late grandmother as being “another star in the sky” in between KJ’s verses, which are riddled with stories of the celebrated matriarch. While Goodbye Granny is not attached to any project from the duo, their last DJBooth feature The Gold is currently available for free stream and download.
