Christian Rich - Hello Virgin
Artist: Christian Rich
Producer: Christian Rich
Album: The Decadence Mixtape
Label: Unsigned
Alas, things must not have worked out with that Famous Girl; the latest mixtape single from deceptively-named duo Christian Rich finds Kehinde and Taiwo Hassan back on the prowl, this time saying “Hello Virgin” to a less experienced, but equally enchanting shawty. While this record’s electro-informed style will be familiar to those who tuned in for the multitalented twosome’s Booth debut, the overall feel is considerably more unique; the pounding rhythm and spacey instrumental breakdowns, along with the brothers’ sing-song game-spitting, make for a hypnotically repetitive, yet catchy listen. If Christian Rich have succeeded in seducing you with their distinctive brand of electro-pop, you’ll find plenty more to like on their new, Clinton Sparks/Mick Boogie-presented street album The Decadence, due out May 31. Also, fans of the avant-garde won’t want to miss the record’s downright bizarre official video (if the sight of blood makes you queasy, though, watch at your own risk).

If you hate sing-songy lyrics and electro-pop flavored hip hop than I guarantee you will hate this new record by the Christian Rich boys. However, if you are a fan of experimental-sounding (and certainly boundary-crossing) music with a unique appeal you might be a fan.
I've listened about 10 times. Half the time I love it, but the other half I am not so sure. For now, since I speak on behalf of their true talent, it'll be spinning in rotation. |

Not liking the singing or the beat. Gets annoying, reminds me of some Willy Wonka.

I didn't think it was that bad, but I do have an eclectic musical taste. The video is really weird though, it left me thinking, "What the hell does this have to do with the song?"

After pressing play I instantly knew as to why people could appreciate this. Its either gonna be a hit or a miss and in my opinion it wasn't too bad. Concept was pretty boring, but I liked the vocals. Christian took a different approach with this song and it is a good look for him. I wouldn't listen to this song too frequently, but I liked what I heard based on the first listen alone so... 2.5

This is going to be a love-hate song. Loving the electro bouncy sound, yet seems like it's been done before and isn't so unique. The production is decent, not great, and the singing could be more catchy. Rotation song, not quite a club or radio hit either.

Reminded me of Owl City's Fireflies during the Hello Virgin Boyfriend repetition. I can enjoy a good electropop song but this one pushes my boundaries for likability just far enough. I couldn't bring myself to play it again. Not trash just not my type of music.

Pretty catchy tune. I'm def feeling the alt vibe. I'm a bigger FAN of "Famous Girl", but this works for rotation. Dope video.

I dont know about this one. The beat is catchy enough but it sounds the same from beginning to end. A lot of songs arent that good but their is at least an audience for them. I can't really think of an audience for this song, not even radio. First listen and I don't ever want to hear it again.

Not a fan of this track at all, the production shows some potential, but it seems very unfinished. as for the vocals and subject matter ---> GARBAGE.

Just so we're straight guys, unless you're young, you don't want any part of dating a virgin girl. Not even remotely worth the work. We're all on the same page there, right?
I feel like there's a seed of a good song here, but they couldn't really bring it to fruition. Still, I do admire the willingness to experiment. |

this just makes me angry, its been done so many freakin times. Clean up the production a bit and it could be solid, but this whole freakin track just cheapens the whole genre, if there was lower rating then 1 star, id use it.

This song isn't without its charm, and I can certainly see how people could dig it, but I'm afraid I'm not one of those people.

like ive mentioned previously, artists who produces their own songs get love from me- provided its a good song which in this case is in rotation. catchy but lacking that overall mainstay quality that makes a banger.

Don't like the production. It never settles into a groove, the key change in chord progression just ruins the enjoyment factor for me. And lyrics with that cluttered delivery that sometimes seems like an exercise in vocal forms and other times like an afterthought - nope! Its not garbage but definitely not for me. Can't hit that two star button for this.

I like the electro-pop sound. It has become alot more prevalent in hip-hop lately with the likes of kanye (which this sounds like could could have donated a verse to it.) Common also ventures this direction on his Universal Mind Control album with the last track entitled "Everywhere". I think it appeals to me because It is still no the norm, kinda fresh sound, and I'm a sucker for catchy no matter what genre it is.
