Chrisette Michele - What You Do ft. Ne-Yo
Artist: Chrisette Michele
Featuring: Ne-Yo
Producer: Ne-Yo and Chuck Harmony
Album: Epiphany
Label: Motown Records
Chrisette Michele may swim with the current of musical inspiration, but she stays solid as a boulder when it comes to her principles. Tired of the vicious circle of her man doing wrong, apologizing, and repeating the same mistakes time and time again, Ms. Michele lets him know that, this time around, whether or not she lets him back in will depend on “What You Do.” Many of the track’s highlights come courtesy of the singer’s Def Jam labelmate, Ne-Yo, who contributes background vocals as well as handling songwriting and production duties; the end result recaptures the jazzy, old-school magic that made listeners love I Am, and should serve as a perfect lead-in to Epiphany‘s May 5th release. Let’s hope Michele’s musical formula will catch on with younger crowd (it will always appeal to us old souls).

This is true r&b right here! The production sounds smooth and Chrisette changes here voice with the beat it sounds amazing. I love the way Ne-Yo complements her with his background voice. The hook is hot. Everything about this is perfect! Classic!

Chrisette's first single "Epiphany" is buzzing as of late and I was expecting to hear a little more dynamics between her and Ne-Yo on this track. But after giving it thought, I actually liked how Ne-Yo stood his own ground and provided more of a soothing back-drop rather than a complete feature verse. It shows that Chrisette is an extremely talented vocalist who really should be receiving more recognition for her authentic originality and grace.

Chrisette is ultra-talented; no doubt. Ne-Yo is a nice addition on here as his guest feature adds but never outshines Chrisette while his production gets the job done. This is a banger if I've ever heard one.

Never liked Chrisette until her recent singles, now I'm tempted to get the album! She is a TRUE R&B/Soul artist, classy vocals, classy appearance, she is amazing. What really shines on this track, as well as Epiphany, however, is Ne-Yo's touch. Everything he touches turns to gold.

Nice soulful track, and I love the raspines/soulfulness in her voice. The piano in the production is just soothing, and accents her vocals perfectly. Not a track I could see getting too much play on the radio/TV, but it definitely should.

I like this better than most of the female r&b that's been around recently. The production is layered well and sounds really good...with just enough beat to make this event more enjoyable for me. In terms of vocals, she sounds great and Ne-Yo does his thing. Decent track, hopefully she can parlay this into some success.

Both voices blend in very well; good fit. My new jam, its catchy, which is surprising for such a mellow song. Great production.

Chrisette and Ne-Yo sounds great together. I can see this single achieving LOTS of success at Urban AC. Ms. Michele was way too slept on the first time around (crappy promo had a lot to do with this), I have a feeling things will be different this time around.

ummm, its a cool little cut with a summer feel to it. I don't see it bing a hit though, Neyo may help but not enough to keep the attention of the average listener. Good song not Great song

Chrisette Michele isn't typically someone that I'd really listen to. Her voice is def different from what's out there right now, and that's a good thing. I'm kind of feeling this...she sort of sounds like Fantasia and her lyrics remind me of something Jasmine Sullivan would sing about. Neyo is certainly a good look on here. His voice meshes well with the production and hers. Her voice def stands out so having a singer like Neyo who's voice isn't overpowering was a smart move. This song is def for the older crowd and should get a lot of play in lounges. Overall i like it and its going on the pod.
