The 132nd entry in our DJBooth.net Freestyle Series comes courtesy of Chris Webby, the Connecticut native who earned reader acclaim for mixtape cut Go Back in September ‘09. On his brand new, previously-unreleased Best in the Burbs freestyle, the currently unsigned emcee flows over an industry instrumental originally featured on reggae group Rebelution‘s Safe and Sound [Dub Mix]. Webby is currently preparing for the release of a yet-untitled mixtape with DJ Whoo Kid, coming soon.

Readers can download a copy of the newly-released In the Booth (Volume 3), featuring exclusive freestyles 61 through 90, here! Volumes one and two are available for download here and here.

Chris was soooo excited to be apart of the freestyle series that he recorded not one, but two freestyles. Thus, I found myself in a predicament. I polled our entire staff on which freestyle was better and after many an argument, we decided on "Best of the Burbs." If you weren't a fan of Chris' before (or you didn't know of his work), this might do the trick.

Love the Booth love, Chris!

Is it me or does it seem that most white rappers always go for the humorous approach. Whatever, untill I get tired of it, I'm a fan. This dude is mad funny, sometimes I was laughing at him with some of his punch lines. "No Will Ferrell but you better step brotha", had me dying lol!

But also I love how him and others(Asher, who he wisely brought up since he knew he was gonna get comparisons to) are just themselves. The Call of Duty line is good ex. of him being true to himself. Now that's real.

HoamBoy I think white rappers tend to be more humorous because if they go hard or really serious they risk getting called out. It's the legacy of Post Traumatic Vanilla Ice Stress Syndrome.

Anyway, I was one of those staffers Z sent the two freestyles to, and while the other one was definitely dope too, this was one of those immediate rewind tracks. Well done Chris, well done.

@SexyNatural - HE DOES SOUND JUST LIKE WAYNE WITH THE VOICE, THE PUNCHLINES AND THE FLOW. I wonder if Weezy is one of his influences cause he has to be.

Anyway, this one was aiight. Just made me think of Wayne.

Fresh beat selection and nice lyricism. Rotation-Stuff.

He is cool and everything but he is out of his mind if he thinks he is better than Asher Roth. Then he has no emotion in his rhymes. It is like he went to hip hop school and trained at being a rapper. The best have it in their heart.
