In a German legend famously reinterpreted in plays by Christopher Marlowe and Goethe, a man named Faust makes a pact with the devil in order to satisfy his hunger for earthly knowledge. Now, I’m definitely not implying that Booth newcomer Christopher Faust got his rapping skills from the main downstairs, I’m just saying there’s underground hip-hop and then there’s underground hip-hop. In any case, the Brooklynite seems to be making the most of the spooky literary allusion, as evidenced by newly-leaked cut The Book of Faust. Backed by the ominous, cinematic boardwork of Atticus Ross, CF stares into the figurative abyss, preparing to throw caution to the wind in pursuit of his musical ambitions, “I’m on the edge, no looking back… your bed’s made, leave your old life on the tracks.” As if Faust’s dark lyrical vision wasn’t unconventional enough, the artist forgoes the traditional hook in favor of an eerie sung outro featuring guest vocals by Cocoa Sarai. Intrigued by this up-and-comer’s left-of-center style? Grab a copy of his latest project, the half-self-titled FAUST, when it drops April 12.

Its funny - different can either be really good or really bad. For some reason I find this "different" artist/record very good. Chris' vocals are captivating. He grabs you by the ears and doesn't let go - until the song is over.

where is everybody at??? he sound just like Drake which isnt good or bad but its whatever...i guess this doesn't take from his skills...or does it? but i don't think drake would be this sloppy on a feature djbooth track...the beat is pretty nice and that girl on here has a very beautiful voice...i think she outshine him, i found my self wanting to hear more of her he should have atleast included cocoa's name in the song as a feature well hey...small rotation

Red pill, blue pill. Damn, I felt like I was in the Matrix there on the intro. Kept expecting Keanue Reeves to kick me in the face.

Anyway, this is the kind of track that you're either fascinated by or completely passing on. There can be no middle ground, and I applaud any artist who pushed the boundaries like Faust does here (although that Aladdin, Jafar reference was a little off). Point is, I don't necessarily like this song, but I respect the f**k out of it.

@DkKIDD - Not hearing the Drake comparison at all. It's just not happening for me.

@Nathan - I think DjKidd is talking about his flow not his voice, because I hear it too.

Anyway, Chris Faust was aight. He had some good moments. And I liked the singing part. And I like how he didn't stick to any formulas and just went with the sung outro. Nice work.

This is good work. I had to do a ton of research to find anything on this kid and I came to a conclusion. I didn't know "Print" changed his name to Chris Faust. This kid is a dope artist. He did an entire album using Comic Book hero characters in regular life situations. I mean he had everyone on this album. Tonya Morgan, Homeboy Sandman, Theophilus London, Mickey Factz, Outasight and the names just keep going. At first I was like this kid is a weirdo but what is really good about his as ^Gstan10 said is that he doesn't stick to any particular song format. Some of his stuff is just long writtens about random topics. Then he switches it up to full on ballad style records. After listening to "The Book of Faust" I enjoy this look on him. I think its just a freestyle so for what it is its good. And Cocoa just made it even better towards the end. Sounds like that Lupe record off of "The Cool" with a nice flow. He can spit. I want to hear more. DJ Z you have more of his stuff?
