Not since T.I. got busted with enough guns to start a small war has the game seen drama like this. Chris Brown, a young star poised to take over the world, is convicted of beating his equally famous girlfriend, forever scarring his good boy image. No one saw this coming, but Brown hasn’t let a little thing like community service stop him from putting in time in the studio. The young (former) prince of R&B is back with his new single I Can Transform Ya, a hard-rock edged and appropriately robotic banger featuring production from Swizz Beatz and verses from Weezy, who drops more than a couple great sexual Transformer references (“tell ya man to get his Voltron up”). Will the Rihanna assault hurt his career permanently, or will Chris Breezy be able to pick up where he left off? We’ll find out when his third album Graffiti drops Dec. 15.

This would have been perfect... if it dropped this past summer around the time Transformers 2 was released in theaters. Timing, as we know, is everything... which is probably the reason it wasn't able to drop months ago.
It's great to hear Swizzy changing up his sound... slightly - you can still hear his whistle blows, but Wayne is his usual entertaining self. It will be interesting to see how this is received at radio outlets.

The beat on this one is a complete redux of "On to the Next One" from BP3. Swizzy needs to step his game up.
I can see this one having some success at radio but no where near as much as some of Chris' past singles. Mostly due to his new reputation. |

This would have been perfect for a summer release while the "Transformers" thing was goin on, like Z said, but it was still enjoyable. The beat had some great energy and Weezy was a good addition but at the end of the day, I don't think this will have the success of some of his past hits.

Yeah this is a banger..probably not as good as Chris' previous singles, but the beat goes hard, wayne went hard and chris voice sounded fresh.

Although I want to see Chris Brown come back, this song is lacking. I thought the single would be harder/meaningful than this. No doubt, it will get it’s airplay and keep Breezy out there and then the video will drop to give a boast cos it just sounds like the type of song that is geared toward his dancing ability more than anything.
Besides "Kiss Kiss" and "Forever" I never really like his songs until after I have heard them a few times. No exception with this song ... 3.5 |

I was really exited that Chris finally had somethin new on here, but theres somethin I dont like about it. Its too effortless to make a song from that popular movie. Like "this will be awsome no matter what we do, cause they all transformers-fans already"

Here I was thinkin Swizzy didn't have any original beatz left in him. I was DEAD WRONG; this is fire. I can't hate on using a franchise to make money...everyone seems to be using DBZ these days, some use Sega (Mr. Hamilton), it's been done for years. Air Force ones comes to mind, Patron, etc. Commercialism in music will always be a staple I think. Sometimes it's used distastefully or even foolishly but here we have a pretty good ex. Weezy was hot I thought I would've heard more of Chris Brown being his song though.....

@DJ Z Have to disagree. This is basically the same production Swizzy's been giving us for years now. The details are different, but the structure's always the same. If Weezy didn't kill his verse this would be an average track at best.
By the way, I hear Breezy's in the studio with Scott Storch. Apparently people are so afraid of working with either of them they've teamed up.

I know Chris can make a comeback but not with a song like this. Weezy owned the track, though nothing he said really impressed me.
I agree with Nathan, Swizz once again uses the same beat. I don't get why no one has told him this or asked for something different. |
