The cosmos must have aligned because St. Louis rappers are actually working with one another. Joining forces for the first since Nelly yelled out, “Uhhh Ohhh” and The Lou joined the proverbial hip hop map, three artists from Missouri’s biggest city are on one track. Veteran rapper Chingy and new school MC Huey welcome East St. Louis (which is actually located in Illinois) artist Gena for the aptly titled, St. Louis N*ggaz. The three Midwesterners all spice up their verses with typical Lou slang and a high level of energy. Maybe there is hope after all for the Crips and the Bloods?
The beat is tight once again from JD but Chingy's flow shows no improvement. I wouldn't be surprised if this gets some radio play and spins in the clubs.
beat mean, and this song didn't gain any respect for st. louis from me. and ross doesn't fit that beat. more like something mike jones would've used (i'm not saying he can rap!) i'm just saying this beat is him or paul wall
This song would be alright btu i dont think Chingy and Huey make it with this one.. and it sounds like they took the popping from Stack$ song "Whatever It Takes"... but Ross would sound pretty good..
Interesting Track. Kinda liked Gena's verse, and Huey wasn't bad, wasn't great either. The beat is kinda real catchy.....should get some airplay and spins in the club.
this is not a Rick Ross song, what are you all chattin about? its a typical Chingy song, catchy. I like Chingy tho, as plain as he is, his style is just tight. Gena soundin good, + Huey to me, sounds completely different to usual. I thought Huey and Chingy had some beef?
For those who think it's an H-Town sounding beat, could it be because of the Slim Thug & Lil Keke samples on the hook, both from the H-Town remix to Bun B's "Draped Up"
"Caked up with clout" -Slim Thug
"It's what keep the streets hot" - Lil Keke
feeling the beats and the vibe but i just cant take chingy or huey seriously when they rapping about being gangsta. I mean could you imagine chingy with a gun LOL. They need to stick to making nursery rhymes.
Truthfully murphy lee would trash all of these st louis rappers.
People have been hating on Chingy and St. Louis from the jump. Im not saying this is his best song but the song is hot can't deny it. You can't take them serious? Come to St. Louis and test the softest dude there. Like Gena said...you know about that number 1 crime rate, its no game. We dont walk around acting hard, you test us we show you hard. Just because Nelly got on the map with a few party songs don't miss what the Lou is really about, fa real.
*Huey the K-town vet, Im southside and Berkeley all day*
Anybody that say they don't feel this song its because they dont know what goes on in our city. It makes me mad when cants saying " this song doesnt gain the Lou no more respect" cuz they tell tehy story of how hectic our city is. And da Lou has had the # 1 murder rate for the past tree years so londons finnest do ya homework on that one cuz itz derrty down herr and i aint speaking bout the water.
Only thing i can say about this song is that they should have put Da Baggaz there (Da lou's newset group who just signed with Atlantic records, look em up on myspace) because they the finna be the hottest thang around when they drop
i was feelin this track. they tryna go hard on it. gena was doin his thing and huey was tryna too. chingy...hm? that boy is so sexy but he dont really got that hard rap just like makin them songs for the ladies, like that one he had with tyrese or whoever.
WTF....314representer, londons finest, STLheavyweight yu guys want to have the crime rat man.. i mean i know that yu guys are hard and @*#$! but danm why do yu want the fukin crime rate to be #1 in to city danm its not like yu killed all of them like yu jus live in the city i mean yo that aint cool, killin and @*#$! i aint into that im into hiphop and @*#$! but not fukin killin other people, and this song was okay great catchy hook.
This song is on point (even though its chingys song and he rapped the worse). Huey killed it, and to everybody who says rick ross could get on this beat you all are some damn fools....
