Even after breaking the Guinness World Record for Longest Freestyle with an epic, 9-hour-plus rhyme session – can I get a round of applause, by the way? – Philly flame-spitter Chiddy Bang‘s lyrical well is far from dry. If you need proof (Oh, ye of little faith!) then When You’ve Got Music should be just the thing to allay your doubts. The latest leak off Chiddy and production partner Xaphoon Jones’ Friday mixtape release, this head-nodding selection finds the latter looking to The Knocks for inspiration, punching up the UK electronic duo’s soulfully catchy cut of the same name with bass-booming percussion and sizzling synths. Chiddy comes with rhymes to match his partner’s leisurely yet driving backdrop; in between braggadocious punchlines (“Sonically they at the tail and I’m a hedgehog”), the emcee looks back on the days when he was the only one believing in himself: “Back in the day with no beats I would have no room to spaz… If I told ‘em that I spit they were soon to laugh.” No doubt about it; Chiddy Bang have come a long way. Those who want to accompany the duo on the next leg of their journey can do so on the 28th, when their Peanut Butter & Swelly street album hits the ‘net.

Hmmmm... this would be fine for a car song. I feel that the beat could have more instruments unless you were trying to keep it simple then it's pretty good for being simple.

Well Chiddy Bang's highly anticipated mixtape will be released on Friday and because of that they decided to leak this track! If the whole mixtape is like this then Friday is going to be a great day! This track is really good and part of that is because of The Knocks. Check it out and tell me what you think!

I like the sound, production does seem to be missing something. Maybe a piano to bring it all together, I dunno. But a decent track overall...

I'm a big Chiddy Bang fan, I've been following them for a long long time, and it's good to see them achieve success. After a concert, I actually got to meet and hang out with Chiddy and even got to hear him spit along with "The Swelly Mixtape". It was like a private concert for me and two friends. He always has so much energy and clever lyrics, an definitely has fun making songs. However, I was sort of disappointed with this track. It doesn't pop like almost every other Chiddy Bang track. I felt like Xaphoon's beat is a little boring, and the rhymes weren't anything special. It is missing that unique Chiddy Bang style and energy.
