Earlier this month, up-and-coming rock group Chester French dropped Jacques Jams Vol. 1: Endurance, a Clinton Sparks-hosted mixtape that chronicled Maxwell Drummey and D.A. Wallach‘s (fictionalized) rise to fame. In addition to being absolutely hilarious, the project is notable for featuring a boatload of hip-hop and R&B guest appearances, from rising stars all the way up to some of the biggest names in the biz. One of the most exciting collabos is I’m Tall, a cut that finds the twosome teaming up with Bun B, Talib Kweli, and Mickey Factz to detail exactly what happens when you buy coke from Pusha T. (who doesn’t appear here, but on the preceding track). Liberated from DJ drops courtesy of our friends at OnSMASH, Tall rides a grinding synth groove that’s much more hip-hop (with an industrial twist, maybe) than pop-rock. The distorted rhymes and CF’s sheer musical versatility make this cut a standout—for more good tunes with a dash of genre-bending experimentation, pick up the duo’s debut studio album, Love the Future, tomorrow (the 21st).

I'll give this a 2.5 and round up. I'm not sure it's rotation worthy, but it might grow on me. I def appreciate the artistry and the originality on this. Bun B does a good job, but sounds kinda funny over production like this. Talib Kweli, on the other hand, sounds more at home over it (after all, his group loves strange sounds like this) Mikey was the best on this track for me, as his hipster style fits the vibe nicely. Good artistry, wierd song.

This is a mixtape track but it has album quality sound. The synths and the rock style production is fire on here and just lookin at that lineup you know its going to be hot. Bun B's voice is perfect for this beat and Talib and Mickey do good as well. Chester French has a hot hook. This shit is so dope!!

Bun B sounds good on everything. I really cannot think of a disappointing performance from him. I thought the production was kind of annoying at first but it definitely grew on me throughout the song. All of the other rappers were decent and I liked the hook.

Very eclectic mix of sounds and artists. I liked this. Chester on the hook was pretty tyte. Bun was decent as usual. I never expect anything super crazy from him, but always some kind of consistent decency in his rhymes. Talib snapped. This reminded me of SA-RA's "Feel the Bass" style Talib. This is definitely that new futuristic eclectic music! Mickey was dope too. Rotation.

Not a bad song. Has an odd chorus interweaved with a grimy beat. Mickey put down a good verse but sure if I'm feeling Bun on this track. Would have been better having a Black Star reunion instead of just having Talib on it. Can't wait to hear Mos and Talib together again.

Production is classy, but had it been more catchy (maybe break the monotonous sound, like at the end of Mickey 'sverse), this would be a real banger.

I'm hi@h on chester French, now that I've heard more of their shit. They have some skills. This isn't their best beat, but wit all of the talent spittin on this, its hard not to call it a ban@er. 3.5 fair enou@h? That hook is frozen by the way.

This is a great song. It gives the music listeners something new and fresh to listen to. The production is on point as always coming from Chester French and Bun B straight up ripped it. Pharrell is so smart for signing them to Star Trak.

Am I the only one who thinks the beat on this is awesome? haha. I personally thought it was crazy; along with the chorus and verses. Just an overall solid track. I'm not going to say classic because it doesn't have that feel to it but its a banger for sure.
