Although their gold-selling debut album, Unappreciated, featured several pop hits including Do It To It, singing-foursome Cherish looks to take a more in-depth lyrical approach with their sophomore album, The Truth. Sisters Farrah, Neosha, Felisha, and Fallon follow up the Billboard-climbing Killa with a slow ballad, which explains why despite their happy relationships, they’re all still in love with their exes and plan to go back– barring a sudden case of Amnesia. One listen to the hook and it might seem obvious that The-Dream penned the ladies new single; when the title is repeated (Umbrella, Bed) it’s dead giveaway. However, the ladies (and producer J New) get the writing credits here. Expect less bubblegum pop and more sophisticated soul when The Truth hits stores May 13.
People don't know how talented these girls are. I found out when "Unappreciated" was dropped as a single. I think this album will let people take them more serious and we could be embarking on the new version of the Destiny's Child era. This joint is solid. Voices is great and I love the production and mixing/engineering on this, most definitely!
I really really have to give props to the-dream, he is such an amazingly impressive rnb writer. Never really though Cherish could pull off a slow song like this, as i'm accustomed to hearing them fire off pop/niche singles. This is definitely a strong female slow ballad; really good groove and harmony between the girls. The one thing that is still off is the vocals and impact from their voices (kinda shows the weakness of the group in my opinion).
The two members above me summed up what I was about to say. Job well done. Although, the mixing, engineering, remastering, editing, singing, writing, and everything else was well put together, I just don't know when I would listen to this track because of the lyrical content. I am not going to play this at the club, at home with my lady, in my car, or just chilling. I consider this a filler song. Is it because I am a man that I feel this way?
i agree wit obecalp...i enjoy cherish much more on uptempo dance track...i mean i can tell they're trying so hard to display some emotion in their voices here but it just isn't workin...their harmonizing i must say is whats on point in this track the bridge was gr8...but im sorry i must compare many female groups to Destiny Child mayb cuz i was ju listening to michelle's song but if this song was remade by destiny child they would murder it n show cherish how its really done to do a slow ballad. i commend them for trying..but their performance is just mediocre n okay n when doing a heartfelt slow ballad that really kills the song.
i LOVED unappreciated...but lately, these ladies have been JUST ok...this joint is SOLID but i guess i'll find out if i still love them as much as i did when dey album drop
this is exactly the type of song that the game has been missing for at least 5 years, seriously this song is a good definition of great songs. I really like everything about this song, perfect.
This is not my type of song. It's surely well done, well sung, they are talented it's clear, but like Tankhead I prefer uptempo songs...like Killa for example! That song is a banger!
now dis is da cherish i fell n luv wit...dem otha songs like killa n dat song bout sum shoes were weak as hell n ant work for me!! all of dese girls can sing n dey harmonize so beautifully together. dey last album was slept on but im really diggin dis song so i hope it goes well for dem!!!
i gotta agree with the gemini goddess... I still listen to other album today. And they have very strong vocals. Like the songs " momment in time, stop calling me, oooh, and chevy, although the lyrics are nice, they do sound shakey, and i think they need to mix it back down again too
Yea I gotta agree with Obecalp and mh cause this is a great track and no one actually realizes how great they are...I am most def. getting their new cd gotta support these girls.
This song is OK...I think i wouldn't listen to it again personally; so I would say its OK. They can definitely sing; but it's just that this sound has been beaten to death that I just don't want to hear another female ballad right now.
Cherish can sing
Cherish can sing! Unfortunately, this song lacks originality.
DJ Blaze, I believe you’re talking about a male
ballad instead, I mean, one can sing the whole “Gone”,
by Justin Timberlake (while on N*sync) over this copy/paste beat. And I prefer Gone,
at least I can relate to the lyrics. Nice effort nonetheless.
This group is in the same place as Danity Kane; capable of much more, but forced to do what their label wants them to. This is going to be the industry, unless you're Alicia or Janet, for the next few years. Get used to it people.
Man I'm so glad someone else said this is the 2008 version of "Gone" I heard this on the radio here in St. Louis about a month ago and was like, "so who's cuttin the check to Jive?" All that said, I do like the song but I can't give it a 5 because it's a damn photocopy...lol
man...i fricken love dis song...cherish knows wat it is..dis song is jus so real..&& it really speaks da truth fa sum females dat done went threw sum thangs like dis...i love it...
