Having been signed to Bad Boy since 2001, singer Cheri Dennis has been patiently waiting for the last six years for her time to finally arrive. While many fans (myself included) grew impatient, the Cleveland native has finally begun to enter the spotlight. Following Portrait of Love is her new single, Remind You, which incorporates characteristics of fellow 216’ers Avant (soft and smooth, yet powerful vocals) and Bone-Thugs-n-Harmony (fast-paced rhythms). Of course, the latter is mainly because of producer extraordinaire Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins‘ string/piano beat, but the combination nonetheless should earn Remind You a place int the Billboard charts. The long-awaited In and Out of Love is currently available on iTunes and will be released to retail on February 26th.
The keyboard melody leading up to the horn-filled chorus provides a nice effect. Cheri has talent, I'm just not sure if her style unique enough compete with today's greats.
Cheri reminds me if an artist named Amil. Not a singer, a rapper, but signed a very bad deal with Def Jam and released one flop of a project after waiting around for years as a non-priority on their label. I hope Cheri has more success. Nice song.
She sounds like an amature, and this is her second album....She needs to step her game up...and I heard that Diddy was skeptical to let her back in the studio...
I agree with Tone+Chef Cheri talented but her voice just isn't unique, Nothing really special about it. She did GET ARRESTED IN 06' i think that had something to do with the delay of her album,also i think diddy signed her coz her looks, he had her working on her writing for 2years prior to the release of her first single "i love you". it will take time before she really develops as an artist. wish her the best though.
I always liked Darkchild's beats for a LONG time now and this beat definitely delivers for me! She can sing pretty well too. I am feeling this track, i guess its nothing really great, but I like it nonetheless...
