Since she signed with Bad Boy in 2001, Cheri Dennis has been the victim of relentless industry shenanigans. After seven long years on the label back burner, her debut full-length, In and Out of Love, was released with minimal promotion to disappointing sales. Though many would see that as grounds to walk away from the label, Cheri’s staying positive, concentrating on recording a strong follow-up. This week, Ms. Dennis released several recordings via her Twitter page, hoping to gain some helpful fan feedback. After listening to all of them, collectively called the Chericoke “Secret Sessions” sampler, the Booth’s decided to roll with a track that sees her returning to her old-school slow-jam mode. On Let’s Get Down, Cheri finds herself unable to resist a special man’s charms. Over Tubb Young‘s chilled-out boardwork, she invites him to spend a steamy night at her place. Though little is known regarding Dennis’ sophomore album, Let’s Get Down should stir up anticipation among listeners with a taste for grown and sexy music—hopefully, Diddy‘s learned a few lessons since last time.

Her voice sounds a lil too heavy. but i mean its overall kinda smooth. but boring. so, nothing special.

I'll up that1kid13's anti from "kinda smooth" to "very smooth." Cheri is clearly still trying to decide what angle she wants to take with her vocals. Out of all the records she leaked via Twitter, this was by-far-and-away the standout of them all.

Yeah, it was smooth. Nothing that will separate her from the rest of the R&B singers in the game but I enjoyed it. She could be someone to look out for in the future.

This song bored me. Not taking anything away from her vocals, which were super smooth, but the production, melody and hook were pretty weak. I wasn't really feelin the distorted guitar either.

The production on her is super dope and annoying at the same time. I hate the mix. It sounded so low grade. For some reason, the songs' vibe reminded me of "Human Nature". Due to the mix, some/most of the words were unintelligible. If you listen to the song in headphones, if sounds like someone is talking too close into your ear. It's all extra deep in your ear.

cheri dennis COULD BE where similar artists like keri hilson or even keyshia cole are with the right single(s) and promotion but she's never gotten it. unfortunately, this is one of her worst efforts. i like her being a little more urban ("i love you remix" "portrait of love")...then she might get some more shine from bad boy. but these tracks won't get her anywhere

Yea I'm with MH, sounds like someone made a dope beat, and gave it to an amateur mixer. This needs to be remastered, cause its an appealing song to play to get the mood going. Her vocals were cool, but I think this needs to be re recorded as well, do it again, and it will be hot.
