Last November, singer Cheri Dennis released her debut album, In And Out Of Love, as an exclusive “iTunes-only” release. While the product didn’t exactly fly off virtual store shelves as Dennis had hoped, it did set in motion an increasingly popular trend; in March, Gnarls Barkley played copycat and just last week Kidz In The Hall did the same. Since her physical in-store release this past February, during which the Bad Boy singer was still pushing the Soul Diggaz-produced Portrait, Dennis has yet to drop a new single. Unbeknownst to DJBooth (and most of the world), however, the song Pretend was recently released from the album, and has since received a remix treatment which includes Atlantic’s new prized possession, Maino.
i like dat beat! but tha only problem for me is i dont think her voice fits well on verses for this beat. she does well for the hook and das it. n yea i agree wit bdf44 she look fly as fuck
lmao at donjonjon, dis is a cute song tho....sumthin most chicks can relate to.....dnt like maino on da rap tho...would do really well if dey get anotha rapper.....good job cheri!! BDF44; i agree, she is pretty
I place this chick in the same catagory as Ashanti....They just trying to hold on to they careers..however, they strive to be average...Just regular..I give Cassie's no-singing-self way more credit then her.
Not2day sorry if I contradict you! I think you are a bit exaggerated! It's known I don't think Cassie is a great artist, but to give more credit to her than to Cheri...bah! At least Cheri CAN sing!
eh. def sounds like shes tryn too hard or smthn. seems like she has a voice, but shes usn her voice to make songs that dont even seem to fit her. like they dont even sound like she could even relate. I say, if you can actually sing R&B, y not make a good song, instead of tryna guess what sound is "hot" today on the radio.
i wasnt even going to comment on this track until i read the stupid comment by Not2day, Ashanti is not trying to hold on to her career, ashanti has been in the game for 6 plus years and have many chart topper along with millions records sold. So no disrespect to cheri how are they in the same category. I think thats everyone idea in the music game is to stay revelent. if ashanti has been holdin on to her career that long she done a great job....oh yea the track is okay not 4 me though
Cherri Dennis is nice on this. I like her vocal ability. The track needs made work on it's audio engineering though. It needs to be equalized better. The production is nicely done by Eric Hudson. I've heard Maino come nice on some underground tracks, but he's very wack on this track definitely.
