Chaundon - Y'all Don't Want It
Artist: Chaundon
Featuring: Carlitta Durand
Producer: M-Phazes
Album: No Excuses
Label: Golden Era Music Inc.
Absent from our pages since he dropped entry #49 in our DJBooth.net Freestyle Series, Hall of Justus rapper Chaundon is back to tantalize us with a little reverse psychology – though the South Bronx native tells us “Y’all Don’t Want It” on the inaugural leak off his forthcoming full-length, fans of pure and uncut underground hip-hop will likely find that it’s just what they’ve been craving. Over M-Phazes’ pensive, chopped-soul sample instrumental, the artist suggests we forget the past and crown him as The Future. Arrogant? Perhaps, but you can’t argue with the emcee’s recipe for success: ”Set the precedent with high-level lyricism / Keep heads turnin’ like they need an exorcism.” Carlitta Durand, the North Carolina R&B singer previously heard on 9th Wonder & Buckshot‘s Go All Out, handles hook duties, warning potential rivals that she and Chaundon ain’t nothin’ to f*ck with (in the most soulful manner possible, of course). If, contrary to the record’s title, you do want more from this underground mainstay, you’ll find what you seek on his No Excuses LP, set to hit stores and online retailers before the summer’s out.

As they say (whoever "they" is) these days, "F*ck the bullsh*t." If its supposed to be about the collision of stone cold rhymes and dope beats, then we have ourselves a tried and true banger via Chaundon.
And extra special props for his collaborators, as both M-Phazes and Carlitta continue to impress me time and again. |

I don't think I can say it any better than Z already did: "If its supposed to be about the collision of stone cold rhymes and dope beats...than this is a banger." Damn man, how poetic. And it's fitting cause Chaundon's lyrics are some real street poetry. Dope track.

LYRICS ARE GOOD.
BEAT IS OKAY. THE HOOK PULLS IT TOGETHER. BUT HIS FLOW STYLE DOESN'T STAND OUT AS UNIQUE TYPICAL NY UNDERGROUND SOUND TO ME. |
