If you told me a few years ago that the Carolinas would be churning out promising artists like Diddy churns out swag, I would have not believed a word. However, with talent like Cole World, Righchus, King Mez and Kooley High in the mix, the southeast has another place aside from Atlanta to turn to for some fresh urban music. Enter Charlie Smarts, member of Kooley High and an eclectic emcee when it comes to his solo career. On his latest cut, AC, off his upcoming LowBottomMe project, Smarts brings the style that listeners have come to expect from him in both of his musical fronts. With producer Black Jenz on the beat (a Busta, Stevie Wonder, and Juvenile collaborator among many), the N.C. State alum’s raw bars are a cool delivery from the heat this summer. If you liked chilling to this one, be sure to check out the rest of the LowBottomMe, dropping at a link near you on July 11.
